: Facelift question

Hi

I'm new here, and just about to take the plunge and order a full fat 225 and retire my original Megane.

From the pictures I've seen of the dashboard of the facelift there seems to be a kind of cover over the radio display? Is this correct does it flip up or anything?

Does anyone have any pictures of it open?

Thanks for your help

Lo m8,

take a look here, I dont think the radio as a cover...

cactusbob
10-03-2006, 12:02:31
No not the radio itself :D

The thing in the centre of the dash above the air vents

So where is the radio display then?

10-03-2006, 12:12:56
I should imagine it will be on the screen as well. I didn't think the uk renaultsport came with sat nav??, so the screen won't pop up, it will be like they are at the minute.

10-03-2006, 12:16:29
that image is for a LHD RS 225 with colour sat nav - UK cars dont have this option. I have seen an image with a colur screen popping up..

I rekon Renault UK hav messed up with pics... is there a pic in brochure?

Ade

Is there anywhere to put your sunglasses?

CB

BlackRat250
10-03-2006, 12:28:55
There is a sunglass case above the drivers door

there will be a screen - and I rekon it will be like the old one - that pic on renaultsport site is the wrong pic.

Drivers handle above the door has a pouch for them.

cactusbob
10-03-2006, 12:39:42
Excellent, sad as it may seem the display and the sunglasses holder are the two things I like best about my ye olde Megane.

BlackRat250
10-03-2006, 12:42:09
Ha your old megane got the flip up display then?

cactusbob
10-03-2006, 12:47:48
Nah it's just the standard one in middle of the dash, it's irritating though when you drive a car without one and you have to look down at the stereo to see what you're doing. Sadly though it's 4.5 years old now and really needs retiring, even though it's only done 37k miles. I'm just bored of it really, and when you can get a 225 for £15k ish at buyacar.co.uk it's kind of rude not to.

I presume the stereo in the 225 isn't very good?

CB

BlackRat250
10-03-2006, 12:51:36
Its not too bad. You still have the stereo display in the facelift megane. It just looks like this, except they've changed the font and display colour.

Cheers !!

How does the keyless thing work? Can you just walk away and when you're out of range it locks? If so how far is that?

Sorry for all the questions

BlackRat250
10-03-2006, 13:36:00
When you walk upto the car and put your hand in the handle it unlocks, whilst the key is in your pocket. To lock it, you have to push the button on the handle.

You also don't have to put the card in the slot in the car, you just push the start/stop button.

BlackRat250
10-03-2006, 13:37:30
mines not the new facelift, but most is the same if you wanted to look round it sometime as your only down the road.

Next Q, Cup Pack, worth getting or does it do your back in on the bumps? Remember I'm used to a old Style 1.6 Megane, and the occasional go in the other halfs 1.6 Clio 2.

BlackRat250

BlackRat250

Damn you guys !! You're making it really hard for me to order the thing. Are the aftermarket ones a direct drop in replacement or do I need to run wires all over the place. I noticed from the piccies that there isn't much room in there.

It does mean you have to take the bumper off to fit them, but is a lot better if they renault xenons go wrong.

Mine went wrong and would have cost me nearly £1000 to put right due to the labour and parts involved!!!! Luckily it was covered under warranty.

They gone wrong since? I've got no problems abusing Renault for warranty work. The other halfs Clio went in yesterday because the external door handle wouldn't open the door anymore. The tried to charge her £81 for a "clip" or something. We told 'em to get stuffed and it was clearly a warranty issue, because we didn't think it would be unreasonable to be able to open the door of a 35.5 month old car with 10k miles on it. I think they were just annoyed because she has 2 weeks of warranty left.
