Hello,

I'm new here. Great forum!

Anyway, I have been thinking of buying an R26 for a long time... I've been looking to get one from an internet broker, but after reading the forum it looks like the dealer can often match the price and even throw a low interest finance option! Maybe I'm mistaken. Maybe the offer is for fleet sales.

The one on the internet I've seen is 16,537 with xenon, mercury and multi-functional tune point.

Do you think a dealer can match the price? Where's the best place to get it? I'm in London, but I'm prepared to travel! Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, guys!

Your local Renault dealer(s) - see what they can do.
To be fair, that is a decent price, but will you be the 1st owner? (are you bothered too?)
I've found the same car but without Zenons and the tune point (see denty in the for sale section for the tunebox) from Lloyds TSB Car Select for £16,200. If you add the Zenons at £500, its a little over your broker quote, but you'll defo be the first owner and it will come from a Renault dealer. (dealdrivers.co.uk is a similar price).
Have you thought about second hand? There are a few available now if you search hard enough.

SaintDP on here, got a quote of £15900 for a standard colour with Xenons from a dealer, so I would have thought the metalic paint would push that price up some what and get very close to your broker price.

Fleet offers greater discounts, but you'll have to have a company to order it through, or your own business (IIRC).

Best of luck.

Thank you donny_dog!

I'll try and approach my local dealer and see what they can do. I'm not that great at haggling though.

The qoute I got is for a pre-reg. I don't mind that too much. I tried Lloyds Car Select and I got about 16,700 without any options.

Nearly new is also an option, but I didn't think there were so many out there.

Also I've read that some people having problems with the clutch on 225 and Renault refusing to fix it under warranty claiming it's due to harsh driving style. Several people seemed to have disputed this without success. I guess R26 is too new for this. What do you guys think?

"I have read about steve@wests a number of times in the forum. He's a dealer from Wests Bedford? I'd buy it through him but if he's busy..."

By that I mean, it might be best to ring him through the aforementioned dealership, I think the interest from here, filled his inbox! The service from him/dealership gets a very good write up on here indeed.

"I'll try and approach my local dealer and see what they can do. I'm not that great at haggling though."

The ball is in your court mate. Get some deals printed out and go at them. You've nothing to lose and who knows, you could unearth the best deal yet. (if you do, let me know!!). Dont forget a brand new one is a lengthy wait (12 weekish). From my understanding these are built to order (and the factory is closed in August).

Lloyds TSB aren't instant successes. You need a couple of phone calls. they'll also call you back , usually, (if you state real interest in purchasing one there and then) with a better offer. It worked for me anyway, they dropped £500 in about 25 minutes and a further £100 with some 'manager specials'.
Give dealdrivers a go. They're just as competetive (oh and that Alex bloke mentioned by Denty - seen him on the Renaultsport forum).

I've found about 5 nearly new's that I'm interested in, so there are some about, but its all down to what you want..... and your budget ;)

I might be speaking to Steve, Andy has got me hooked on the idea of the R26 with lux. And after meeting steve i have to say he is a top bloke, even when 8 meganes turn up at his little dealership lol.

Do Lloyds offer part ex ?

Do Lloyds offer part ex ?

Yes mate, they do (only if you're buying a new car). But TBH, when I was looking to close a deal, I managed to get more through 'we buy any car' .com, or whatever they are called. (a bit like carcraft's sourcing agents). I was offered £300 more for my TDI through them, without them even seeing it.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Will look into various sources for the best price. Although it looks like it might be more and more difficult to buy a new one at the cut-down price we've been seeing.
