: Ordering a R27
SaintDP 17-08-2007, 11:05:39 Hy all. I think im gonna make the leap from 225 to the Clio R27. Have got a cracking price of £13995. Have got a test drive this weekend so all depends on that.
Am I doing the right thing???
Opinions needed
denty 17-08-2007, 11:13:53 Just depends if u can lose the power of the 225.
IMO bad idea.
Gareth 17-08-2007, 11:20:43 if you get it in Black, maybe.
FunkyMunky 17-08-2007, 11:24:20 great car is the R27, handles well. i was quite keen on one but then i drove a R26 and loved the turbo power. The 197 goes well but needs to be driven harder than the Meg to get the power...
After our test drive, i made this post on cliotrophy... obviously its more of a comparison to what I had back then, but gives you some good idea of how good i thought it was ;)
well..... we had an unaccompanied test drive of the R27 yesterday afternoon... must have had the car for almost an hour and had some time to give it some stick.
must say i got into the car with some high expectations for it to meet and i got out after the test drive very impressed.
exhuast note is awesome, recaros fitted my slim frame very well and had the added benefit of being height adjustable on the drivers side. The car doesn't have the pronounced 5k kick anymore, power delivery is very smooth and IMO has the grin factor.... the R27 we drove had 1200 miles on so was still quite tight and lacking a bit of low down grunt, however work the gears well and you make good progression http://cliotrophy.co.uk/forum/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
the amount of pull through the gears was good, the speed the car was travelling at was quite deceptive - i had to look at the speedo a couple of times in disbelief at the speed - yes it isnt as raw or go-kartish as the Trophy but it still is a very capable car. The Cup packed suspension has firmed the car up nicely, and i found i'd got used to the overlight steering very quickly and never noticed it again. brakes again are just awesome too.
i know there is quite a few who dislike the 197, but i am now growing more towards them.... the R27 in particular has now moved the game on in the right direction IMO
SaintDP 17-08-2007, 11:34:18 Black or Nimbus I was thinking??
DCP888 17-08-2007, 11:40:36 Dave,
make sure you are sure you want to go to the R27, let me know if you want a drive in my R26 to compare, around tomorrow and Sunday but watching footie pm, let me know ASAP.
Personally nothing against the R27 looks well, if your coming from a cliosport to cliosport, but IMO I think the grin factor wouldn't be the same as an R26, even though a cracking price you just need to have made your mind up completely if going to that expense. Good luck

BlackRat250 17-08-2007, 12:28:42 I was so impressed with the R27, i ordered one for my other half. Get a test drive and see what you think.
Casey-R26 17-08-2007, 18:06:19 looks like youve got the best of both worlds then blackrat you can drive yours through the week and the R27 of the weekend thats if she lets you, lol
BlackRat250 17-08-2007, 18:40:23 Oh she will !!!
shinyautos.com 17-08-2007, 19:02:30 I've got to agree with Funky M!
The R27/197 needs to be driven hard to get the most out of it, but is a great handling car.
But the brute power difference and how easy it is on tap is emmense in comparisson.
eccentric101 18-08-2007, 09:22:30 Ultra Red is the way to go. I saw one being picked up at the Stealers and the grin the guy had on his face when he picked it up says it all. Don't blame him though it was stunning! RS Tuning remap brings the power in lower down and even smoother. There's a thread about the 197 Remap on renaultsport.co.uk
denty 18-08-2007, 15:24:59 Forget my first post just go for it.
Great cars
craigyR27 18-08-2007, 18:17:04 yes go for it, good price what options
we all know the meggy will have the power, but as for looks r27 is far better in my view, then get a remap done later on and im sure you will be just as happy.
BlackRat250 18-08-2007, 18:22:07 Ultra red, Best colour !!! lol

Some dealers are offering the R27 for £13995 including metallic (Not LY) :-)
steve@wests 21-08-2007, 13:28:34 we can all do that,doc.
SaintDP 28-08-2007, 10:17:54 Well ive done it. A Ultra Red R27 with Xenons on order as of last Thursday. Got it at a cracking price which I could not refuse. Cant wait for October now.
Bubbles 28-08-2007, 12:12:31 What was this cracking price? ;)
SaintDP 28-08-2007, 12:25:47 £12895 the dealer in question made a mistake with my quote but said they would honour it. It would be rude not to take it for that price.
Just need to try and sell the 225 now, but if I dont it will be included in the deal with me owing about 500-600 quid in finance.
Doc883 28-08-2007, 12:46:51 £12895 the dealer in question made a mistake with my quote but said they would honour it. It would be rude not to take it for that price.
How did they manage that as the list price and all options are on the computer. Was it a case of they applied the wrong level of discount to the car ? Can't believe whoever made that fook up thought £12895 was the right price for the R27 with Xenon,s. Mind you their loss is your gain. Keep it for 2yrs and you won't have lost a huge amount ;-)
SaintDP 28-08-2007, 12:57:07 Apparently he gave the same quote to about 4 other customers. They have all taken the offer suprise suprise.
Bubbles 28-08-2007, 13:52:49 Jesus christ that is cheap

Doc883 28-08-2007, 21:47:00 Apparently he gave the same quote to about 4 other customers. They have all taken the offer suprise suprise.
He will get Salesman of the month closely followed by his P45 when they realise he hasn't made any profit :-)
