Is the lux as bad as its made out to be without the cup chassis?

Im coming from a vx220 so want some mod cons to make up for my discomfort at the moment lol i.e xenons, climate control, keyless card, full leather etc

Hence needing a lux (i believe) i also want the cup wheels which ill find 2nd hand... is the setup that bad? can i cure it with some aftermarket stuff?

Also... What maps are available? prices and gains?

and (yes another question) Which exhaust systems?

Oh and anyone wanting to swap for a vx let me know :P

Why not get the lux with the cup packs. I believe that is an option.

I would have thought most were that spec! LUX/Cup

But to answer your question, no, it's not as bad as is made out. Std chassis is still good, just not as good as the cup one :)

I had a PH1 225 mate (not lux), before steppin' up to the R26.

I dropped my last one on a set of Eibach's and it transformed the looks and more importantly the handling.

Still got the springs if u want 'em? Done only 8k miles, one of the first and best mods' I did.......

Shocks will be fine with the Eibachs Hair Bear had. Usualy I'd have a rant about how changing springs without chaning dampers and therefore having mismatched damper vs spring rate would cause big problems but it's just in tolerance on the standard 225. Set of cup dampers and springs would be slightly better but to be honest I doubt you'd ever really notice the difference unless pushing on track.

I drove Hair Bears car with the Eibachs and was impressed how close it felt to my Cup.

Cheers

Ah, yes, finding the spec you want 2nd hand is always going to be difficult. I guess it's just a case of looking until you find what you want.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the FF. You can improve the handling slightly with a set of Eibach springs.

Where have you heard this garbage?

Frome the phase 2 all the wheels are the same, I don't think the colour affects the handling too much :)

Oh and anyone wanting to swap for a vx let me know :P

Why would anyone want to? Our esteemed founder is getting rid of his VX :)

Different Bumpers, improved ESP/TC programme, improved steering (less wooly), white dash illumination instead of orange, different rear lights and probably a load of other things

Looks like there still doing the 225 but the R26 230 not on there.
Might make sense cause who will buy a 225 now when you can get
a 230 lux or a standard 230 (like a cup version now) for same money

Just from my experience, I've always been thouroughly impressed with my phase I 225.

I went for xenons and climate control over the Cup chassis and it still puts a huge grin on my face. Mine is one of the last phase I's so I've not experienced some of the niggles that others have with theirs.

Bearing in mind I owned a Clio 172 before and drive my gf's 182 Cup regularly, the handling still impresses. Its not like a go kart but has a certain feel that instills confidence, in me at least.

Tonnes of grip, a smooth ride which is firm but not harsh. I believe that on the road there's very little in it, on a track the Cup packs would be the option to have. On the road IMO its less of an issue.
