: Going to look at a 225 tonight..
Messerant 30-08-2007, 11:45:44 Hi all..
I am new to the forums and will become a paid up member as soon as I have bought one, what should I be looking out for?
Its an 04 car - megane 225..
redR26 30-08-2007, 11:59:50 04 plates were the first ones to be made, I know a few people had issues with em. Check to see if the gadgets are working like door sensors, boot button, tyre pressure monitors, electric door mirrors. I had an issue with my steering column has well it was making a noice when I turned the wheel, mine was an 05 plate though. Also check seats for wear cus the material seats tend to fade and ware on the bottom.
Messerant 30-08-2007, 12:23:25 cheers for advice, will have a good look over it. I hear that the tyre pressure monitor can read low pressure 1nce a month but the tyre isnt low? The car has an extended warranty till april 08 so I may be able to get this fixed under that warranty?
Also, I have just ran a HPI check through RAC for this car and although its all come up clear, it did say that there might be a descrepancy over the mileage but I am sure its just an error to be honest, it says:
31st Dec 2005 Franchised Dealer 27,755
18th Sept 2006 NMR 49,000
11th Nov 2006 NMR 39,000
11th Nov 2006 NMR 39783
25th Apr 2007 DVLA 44000
Now I am sure that this is just a descrepancy as for a start you wouldnt just turn back 10k miles, but also it looks like someone has just made an error in logging the miles.
What do you think?
Doc883 30-08-2007, 12:45:55 What are they asking for it ?
Messerant 30-08-2007, 12:55:45 £8200 no offers
redR26 30-08-2007, 20:15:37 My mate works for citroen and he has just brought a 54 plate in with 12000 miles on the clock and he gave him 9k for it, bottom book price, the bloke must have been mad.

SaintDP 31-08-2007, 14:54:18 Good job mate. And in the best colour 2.
Messerant 31-08-2007, 15:09:46 I see you every morning in St Helens, I used to have a flame red 172 and following that had a black ibiza cupra. Always sat at the lights near JJB near you!
SaintDP 31-08-2007, 15:26:56 You could have had mine. Damn and blast. Ill keep my eye out for you.
Messerant 31-08-2007, 15:54:19 Bit out of my price range! I think yours is up for about 11k isnt it?
SaintDP 31-08-2007, 15:58:28 It keeps going down each week LOL
Thats one problem with outstanding finance. Have got a month to sell it.
minnnt 31-08-2007, 20:28:30 looks lovely mate :D i love inferno, thats what i wanted, then ended up buying a trophy... LOL!!!
MrTurner 31-08-2007, 20:46:08 And you got it for £8k? Good times mate, nice colour, welcome to the gang :)
denty225 31-08-2007, 22:12:28 Nice car mate. The early 225's are surely the performance bargain of the current times.
Enjoy it to the full (fat!).
Messerant 01-09-2007, 08:27:35 yeah, paid £8200 for it in the end, I arrived thinking that it would be fairly tatty - its as if its been sat in a showroom for the last 3 years! It has been fully valeted every saturday, had full ren history and doesnt even have so much as a stone chip on it.
The exhaust has a slight blow from just before the middle slilencer, and is has a bit of a rattle (resonance) on tickover from the rea OS qtr so will get this sorted.
Wicked car i love it
MrTurner 01-09-2007, 08:54:35 Exhausts can be costly, don't think there is a pattern part yet, and Ren want £1000+ for it! Might be why he wanted rid. What an excuse to get a Milltek though :)
How many miles has it got too? If it's getting near the 70k mark, it will need belts changing soon, Renault also quote over £1k for it, but go to a decent independant garage, you'll be able to get it done for half that, if not more.
Still, even if you have to get the belts and exhaust changed, still a bargain and a coulour that you can't get anymore :)
SaintDP 01-09-2007, 10:39:37 Were did you buy it from?
Messerant 02-09-2007, 08:52:26 got it from sheffield. The xhaust is only blowing very slightly and it looks like its just a loose clamp so will have a better look. Its just hit 48k miles so a while off for the belts yet.. Im well pleased with it, it has a warranty till April in my name so if anything does go wrong then it will get fixed under warranty!
