been looking at these, they seem pretty nice! 160bhp and about 240ish lb/ft of torque as standard... they mega quick by the looks of the figures too, 0-62 in 7.6 seconds... :surrender: but they're group 16E insurance... should i just remap my GP to 170bhp and 262lb/ft?? then i get the benefit of the power and group 6 insurance... but then i like the looks of the ibiza more...

yeah i know... i really like them, but maybe i should just stick with my GP, if it was remapped it would be as quick if not a bit quicker... :D

I had an Ibiza before my 225 Cup, and as much as I miss it I wouldnt buy another. Its just a cheap car with some fancy seats and a great engine. The gearbox lacks any precision, and unless you get ESP the TC is pi$$ poor. On top of that the build quality leaves much to be desired, and SEAT customer services are completely pants. It really is a poor mans Polo :(
However, it was stupidly fast and I loved lots about it. But compared to the Megane 225 (Renault build quality n'all) I still think it is lacking. And the prices are about to plummet with the new Ibiza due around Feb.
Hope this helps,

Do they still do the 170 BHP diesel cupra Ibiza?
I remember looking at one when I bought my Seat about 3 years back.

lol! :D the cupra tdi is 160bhp matey.
thanks guys. :)
I think the derv burner is the FR,
the Cupra uses the 1.8T engine out of the Golf/TT, which can be modded & mapped up to 400bhp

not sure about quick i sat behind one & he the only person in the car fully gunning it and i had 3 other lardy barstewards ( at least 90kg each ! ) + myself in the meg and i just sat behind and i didnt even drop from 6th gear !
ok mine is mapped but the tdi160 is really fast, but the meg is on another level even when full laden. it didnt look too stable at the speeds we were going either ;)

That was one thing I hated about it too, it was flakey at higher speeds. But at the end of the day the car just wasnt that good. Id much prefer a 197 or even a 182 if im completely honest.
