: Megane r26 exhaust?
escobar 03-12-2007, 21:05:53 Hi people,
can you tell me: Is the r26 exhaust note better from inside the car than my previous standard 182? It's just that the 182 one didn't do anything for me! Was hoping the megane one would sound like a sports car
Thx
meggray r26 03-12-2007, 21:09:31 i had a 182 with a janspeed on and i love the way the r 26 sounds
MrTurner 03-12-2007, 21:24:55 My cup sounds quite nice. Not too lairy as standard at all. If I want a little more noise, open the window a little to bypass the insulation. Putting the rear seats down or taking the parcel shelf out, with all the stuff in the boot stuff out sounds ace too.
donny_dog 03-12-2007, 22:48:11 Yes.
Gareth 03-12-2007, 23:07:38 IMHO the 225 makes NO noise WHATSOEVER, I have spoken to several R26 owners and half have them have told me the R26 is the same, with the other half telling me the R26 sounds much better. I guess I'll have to wait and see as its clear a lot of people don't know what they are talking about.
donny_dog 03-12-2007, 23:14:59 Been in and around both.
R26 - noticably different. good old reno even market it as being sportier sounding.
matty's included. http://meganesport.net/community/showthread.php?t=13661
"Number 1, and probably the most noticeable difference is the “New Sports Exhaust with improved sound” as Renault call it. I honestly thought that Renault were taking the pee with this but there is a genuine difference between the R26 exhaust and the standard 225 offering. The R26 has a deeper more noticeable burble, and this gets better when the car gets warmer".
Got a video of mats old 225 and my pumpy r26, no idea how to shorten it or anything, otherwise i'd upload, its an Avi, does anyone know how to do anything with it?
Modern07 04-12-2007, 00:02:47 My R26 sounds better than my mates 225 and he agrees....and the warmer the car gets the deeper it sounds. Its got a really nice sound IMHO

carrmrc96 04-12-2007, 11:50:13 it also depends on how warm the exhaust is and how new it is as well. they sound better when they been bedded in.
RvingtSix 04-12-2007, 21:41:22 It depends on what your used to..compared to my Integra the R26 is silent. Even as cars go it is very very quiet but must admit at full tilt (with windows down) I love it. Especially the turbo whistle. :)
TomR26 05-12-2007, 14:53:49 My R26 burbbles like a good'un once hot, on idle seems loud too, love it :)
MikeTog230 21-12-2007, 19:47:00 Mine has a nice burble on idle, not the loudest when given some stick but a nice deep sound
NeilH10 21-12-2007, 20:00:58 The 225 sounds great when driven in anger, but at low revs, you may as well be driving a 1.3 Escort! It annoys the hell out of me and I desperately want to fit either another exhaust or an induction kit. Best option without spending a fortune is to stick on an R26 back box. That will offer some improvement.
The R26 sounds loads better.
Gareth 21-12-2007, 21:01:02 the R26 sounds much better than the 225, my ITG has arrived today and I will be fitting it tomorrow, can't wait.
