:jump: :jump: :jump:
Naith 19-12-2007, 22:28:29 gojus pik, have to wait n see i guess
So Danny you one of the 3 or 4 people?
I know you'll think i'm mad since i haven't even got the R26 yet , but i've already placed my deposit down for one of these! I'm the 4th at my local dealership. No word of a lie :)
Danny 20-12-2007, 10:44:30 what dealer is it mate?? have you got anymore info on it?
paul_r26 20-12-2007, 10:53:31 Yeah yeah, just like the 4WD WRC they were making with the old RS. keep dreaming
Danny 20-12-2007, 11:02:09 like naith said lets wait and see
Jonboy 20-12-2007, 11:22:48 do you think Renault will be tempted with a power/engine upgrade to the current R26?
they gotta do something during 2008 before the launch of the new meg dont you think?
steve@wests 20-12-2007, 11:24:37 they have been testing the road going four wheel drive system for years.i pulled up at a local petrol station a while back behind a focus that didnt look quite "right".when i started taking a little more interest,ie bending down to look under the back, the driver shot out of the kiosk like his ar$e was on fire and drove away as if his life depended on it!!
but not before id seen what looked like a back axle........
so this new focus might just happen.
steve
Heff27 20-12-2007, 11:25:46 I am be changing to the Dark Side.....
Danny 20-12-2007, 11:28:46 it would be nice for ford to turn round and say yep its happening and yes it will have 4wd 320 bhp or fwd with lsd and 280 bhp
Heff27 20-12-2007, 11:33:35 I might be changing to the Dark Side..... (God I cant type)
Danny 20-12-2007, 11:36:59 lol
Danny, there are no figures whatsoever available. No dealer can confirm powertrain or engine yet. All I know is, if you want one then get your deposit in quick. Just for the sake of filling the form, they put 2.5L 300PS 6-speed manual and charged 205 for tax, but as I say, this means nothing.
Just be happy that it's been confirmed for Spring 2009 release and that you can get your name on the list right now, then it's just a case of the waiting game for more details.
Danny 20-12-2007, 13:09:56 cheers mate
BlackRat250 20-12-2007, 13:39:56 What colours then ? lol
Danny 20-12-2007, 14:46:54 dave no one knows what power/drive train its gonna have yet let alone colour lol
Thomas 20-12-2007, 18:32:52 Just can't get excited..
Thomas 04-01-2008, 19:52:07 Potential good news for ST owners and budding ST owners...
http://topgear.com/content/news/stories/2507/
Apparently the £1500 includes the following:
Sports air filter
The revised ECU
New sports exhaust
Danny 04-01-2008, 21:43:18 yeah saw this earlier, wolf tuning do a warranty with there products aswell just not a ford warranty.
Alex_172 04-01-2008, 23:51:57 Its an interesting thought but realistically until they confirm exactly what you're getting for your money I wouldn't risk it!!
Any idea what the actual price is going to be?? By the sounds of it, it'll be £25k+ which I really can't see a Focus is worth, even if it is that quick.
I'd rather aim for a Mitsubishi Evo to be honest unless it has the head turning looks of a Clio V6 as that was £27k for a CLIO but somehow it seemed justifiable!! lol
** Just to add, having read that link from Thomas, an off the shelf Focus ST with 260bhp wouldn't be that far behind a 320bhp 4wd Focus under most circumstances.
Thomas 05-01-2008, 11:03:04 Yeah If you're spending 25k+ on a car it opens a whole land of opportunity, used market especially - why waste it on any fast hatch (harsh but fair I think).
Alex_172 05-01-2008, 12:11:48 Yeah If you're spending 25k+ on a car it opens a whole land of opportunity, used market especially - why waste it on any fast hatch (harsh but fair I think).
Kinda what I was thinking really!!
The trouble with buying brand new cars is that there is all the hype surrounding it, then Renault/Ford etc bring out a new one and the original just gets faded into the background.
I've had that happen with my Clio 172 when the 182 came out and my Megane when the F1 then the R26 came out. I still love my Megane but buying new has certainly lost its appeal.
So for £25k+ I'd want something rare and practically new that the depreciation has hammered. As in a nice TVR with under 10k on the clock haha.
Super car or hot hatch??? hmmm tough one lol
meggerman 05-01-2008, 16:26:33 i think if it came with 320 it would be good as then you can overcome the 4wd and 2.5ltr car weight 1500kg !! ? ? and remap to 360bhp muahah.
on the road its becoming pointless owning a fast car, sadly the risk of losing licence and the costs of running make it a step to far id imagine and then why nt just save some money and buy an evo ?
i guess in car buying there is no logic otherwise id of bought a golf tdi and kept it for the next 8years.
Alex_172 05-01-2008, 18:20:26 You're right there mate, logic doesn't really come into it otherwise we'd all be driving sensible cars!! lol
But then again you'd either have to be a serious Ford nut to be able to justify to yourself that a Ford Focus is worth £25k+!
Danny 05-01-2008, 19:02:39 well look at any of the old fords really escorts, sierra's, they all started life as a ****ty 1.6 then they got fettled into the probaly the best cars in there day!
did anyone see the point then? yes they did and no one cared.
mike_d225 05-01-2008, 21:40:25 Someone will take it off your hands if your on the list and decide you don't want it, probably pay over the odds to jump the queue!!!!!!
Danny 05-01-2008, 23:12:04 wouldnt suprise me mike
Thomas 06-01-2008, 11:55:29 OK Danny you keep you RS for 50 years then it'll be worth it ;) hehe
Danny 06-01-2008, 13:21:57 doesnt n old cossie go for just as much as a new renault? and there around ten years old
Casey-R26 06-01-2008, 14:14:54 I know wheres theres a Cossie with only 500 miles on it, completly standard and thats £25,000 so if they do make it with what they say then it will hold its money a bit better than the current RS which held its money about as well as my old clio did.
Alex_172 07-01-2008, 12:10:49 Thing is back in the day, the Escort Cossie was a rare beast. There wasn't much around at the time to really challenge it from the likes of Renault, Vauxhaul, Subaru etc.
For that reason I can see why its become a classic but to be honest a Ford Focus thats really expensive and has big power I can't imagine ending up in the same league really. Thats just my thoughts, I bet it'll be an amazing car but whether its gonne be a classic remains to be seen when you have similar performing cars brand new for the same money.
Rs_230 Jay 08-01-2008, 14:09:57 Reno need to produce a megane with 4wd and over 300 BHP.... this would be good ;)
MikeTog230 10-01-2008, 14:56:18 Reno need to produce a megane with 4wd and over 300 BHP.... this would be good ;)
Never gonna happen unfortunately
It's in EVO mag this month,
No definate BHP figures or whether 4wd,
Says every old RS focus was made at a loss!!!!!
Rs_230 Jay 13-01-2008, 14:09:17 Never gonna happen unfortunately
how do you know this? never say never
fast_eddie 21-01-2008, 01:00:53 I cant wait for the Focus RS to arrive-Just look at the buzz it has created. I know it has been in the 'making' for a long time but Jos(s) Capito, the guy involved in development of fords performance products seems to know what he is doing. I will be in the market for a new car in 12 months or so and I really hope they get the new RS rolling soon.
No disrespect to any other marque but there is no way I would have an Evo or a Subaru even though I know they are nearly always at the top of their game. I live in an area of west yorkshire where all I see are Mitsubishi's and Subarus of some description or other being driven with no respect at all for any other road users. I do not want to be associated with that at all in any way shape or form. Calling it cutting my nose off to spite my face but thats the reason I have always been interested in the Megane, because its different. The Focus RS will be different too and that REALLY appeals to me, even if I pay a premium for it.
RWD Clios turn my head, Meganes turn my head, Escort cossies still turn my head, but I am sorry to say that not much else does these days(without going silly anyway). I also love brand new cars, it is a feeling that does not come along very often in life and I think that if anyone ever gets the chance to own a brand new car(of whatever type/model) they should go for it. The sense that everything is virginal and new is a cracking feeling, even if it only lasts as long as the first supermarket trolley scrape or tip run blemish!!
Good on Ford for doing something out of the norm-This is what Ford do best though(in a similar vein to Renault) and the motoring world is a better place for it!:)
Glowin 24-01-2008, 12:13:48 I really like the loook of the new RS Focus. It's in Top Gear mag this month. They recon it'll be around 300bhp and have heard figures quoted at £21k but that it'll be more like £23k when it gets here mid 2009.
Sorry guys but bollox to you all. I'm off to sign up to the Focus forum! :shiny[1]:
Matty 24-01-2008, 12:20:28 £25k and about 280bhp not 4 wheel drive, LSD though
I know it has been in the 'making' for a long time but Jos(s) Capito, the guy involved in development of fords performance products seems to know what he is doing.
hehe. Jost. Nearly there :)
Gareth 24-01-2008, 14:31:36 £25k and about 280bhp not 4 wheel drive, LSD though
so a 15k R26, £400 remap, £9600 in your back pocket. :signs013:
sh33n 24-01-2008, 15:23:32 so a 15k R26, £400 remap, £9600 in your back pocket. :signs013:
And after 3 years, R26 worth 5k, RS worth 18k.
Danny 24-01-2008, 15:24:45 :laughing2:
Thomas 24-01-2008, 17:50:40 And after 3 years, R26 worth 5k, RS worth 18k.
Oh dont exaggerate :P
