Just wondering what kind of damage could be present when someone hits your rear? What kind of structural damage should you look out for?

cheers

Rear ends are usually not too bad if quite gentle, mostly gonna be visual damage.

If you're unsure, take it to a decent bodyshop, they should know. Or, get a specialist engineer to have a look.

If you're looking at it when it's been repaired, I'd be looking at the boot floor for any creases, that it drives straight and true, and tha the panel gaps are even all round.

I'd be checking for exhaust damage (pushed back/bent), but rear bumpers usually do a good job absorbing impact.....dependant on the speed!

Spare wheel well is always a good one. Can you get the wheel out !!!

In a rear end impact at slow speeds - under 5 mph it will be superficial damage, scratched bumper or slightly warped, if its a 225 then id inspect the exhaust

higher speeds over 10mph id be taken the back panel trim off and bumper to check for damage to the crash member, back panel ,and boot floor,

even if there is no damage to the back panel check the seams for sealer
split and get these resealed as water can easly get inbetween the break and attack the metal,

Nope. But then i don't have a spare wheel.

The kit has popped out though. Boot floor is creased.

bad news is then you will need a new back panel, bumper is more than likely need replacing, bumper crash member,it will need to be pulled on a jig to pull the boot floor straight with a dozer, imo might exceed 2.5k to fix depending on where you decide to take it,

Last time it was 2.5k for the front bumper, grilles etc, cross member, radiator.

Was only one year ago. Better sell it soon before any more things happen.lol

Will get it sorted next week. How do you lock your car with the boot open?

Noticed the boot is bent at the bottom. Can it be repaired?

claim off their insurance mate and take it to renault and run the cost up to have it fixed properly.

It sounds like who-ever ( probably a she ) has done a fair bit to your back end that needs to be looked at by a bodyshop
