Standard is 45 and 49, can't remember which in your case. Can't be ar*ed to dig out the docs, but IIRC it was 49 mm for 16" and 17" wheels (which have a 205 section tyre) and 45 mm for the 15" wheel (which comes with a 195 mm tyre.

Those are the only two offsets Renault do for the Megane II (apart from the RS).

But according to the German forum, 30 mm is still safe (=no rubbing) provided you don't go wider than 235 with the tyre.

Ok i have taken the wheels off my megane to find that they are 49 offset with a 6.5 width wheel. I have a set of wheels off my old clio 16v which are 38 offset but a 7 inch wide wheel. I have been told that these will fit on the megane by the wheel manufacturer, what you reckon chaps?? i really really hope so...........i cant seem to get my head around the math involved in changing alloy wheels im guessing you can cater for a diferent offset if the wheel is wider than standard is this correct???

offset is how far the wheels stick out of the arches mate. should fit fine just stick out more than the others.
