BlackRat250 13-04-2008, 22:27:28 What did you think ?
Too basic for me
Matty 13-04-2008, 22:30:21 Wouldnt have the cup as the dash is shat, but i get the point. Can really see why you guys like the clios, like the revvy ness, i found that they handle so much better than the meggy and thats saying something.
NeilH10 13-04-2008, 22:57:00 I still prefer the 182. It looks sportier and had all the extras as standard. I had one when they first came out and it had far more presence on the road at the time than the 197 has now, even in cup mode or in white.
Matty 13-04-2008, 23:05:32 dont agree that the 182 looks sportier, think the 197 is subtle and looks fresh. I feel that the 1*2 is starting to look dated.
Naith 13-04-2008, 23:09:44 i think the 197 is one of the sportiest looking cars on the road today, without buying kits and added extras how many other cars come with flared arches, vents/cuts and slashes and a huge rear diffuser.
197 is one of the best looking cars in its class
Jon Seal 13-04-2008, 23:27:07 I enjoyed the little blat I had in a R26. Good fruity little engine on them.
Ultimatley though they are IMO a step back from the 172/182 in terms of driving experience. Dashboard is set comically high to fool you that the lofty driving position is lower than it is. Other than that they are OK. A Chink of light in a sector thats really suffering with the weight gain and ever expanding size.
Will they be made obsolete by the twingo RS? IE if you need more space than a twingo you just get a megane?
carrmrc96 14-04-2008, 00:50:44 I was never a fan of the 197's, starting to grow on me. I would only get the R27 tho. I dont think the 172/182's are dated, i think out of all the clios they r prob the best looking with the original williams being 2nd.
Icarus 14-04-2008, 01:39:02 I like that! They do look good in white.
Tempted to redo ours white when it needs a reshell.
Cheers

ClaneO 14-04-2008, 01:52:34 why and how often would you need to reshell icarus??
shinyautos.com 14-04-2008, 08:22:36 gotta say if the 197's had about 250bhp and a turbo i'd say bye bye meggy, thats the only thing i missed with the 197 and thats the straight line speed you get in the megane.
Dooby 14-04-2008, 10:05:52 Having lived with a 182 (with cup suspension) and now having a 197 and a R27 to play with i definitely prefer the new to the old. I think the 182 is starting to look a bit dated now, it's still certainly got appeal but the 197 has the edge for sure.

Wouldn't have a Cup, but I would have a white FF197.
Not much point of Cup as it's only 20kgs lighter, so by the time you put A/C back in it's same weight as the FF, but with rubber pedals and naff dash.
rg230r26 14-04-2008, 19:38:01 I am well happy with my r27

Icarus 14-04-2008, 20:24:06 why and how often would you need to reshell icarus??
Why - When it hits something hard enough to bend it. How often - Depends how good the drivers are LOL
Cheers
