What size are the door speakers on Meganes and do you need adaptor plates???

13cm on the sports. Thats front and back and any speaker with the tabs for mounting should be ok to fit. I just cut 2 of the tabs off mine.

Want some pics? I'll get some tomorrow.

Not without cutting stuff and making it leak

Not necessarily. Use of foam pad and fibreglass to mount the speaker to the grill (and the speaker grill over that!) would work, although I don't know how well and it'd almost certainly want some structural reinforcement.

Pioneer make a specific set for Renault.
They are TS-Q131C, think they include the tweeters for dash too.
The depth is very small at the speaker area, so you will be hard pushed to fit any speaker other than the ones above, without cutting the plastic rain guard above the speaker.
If the car is a 3 door ive fitted TS-E1396 in the back, they are 13cm 160W 3-ways. I did a tutorial on the megane owners club on how to change them, couldnt do it here because i cant post in the ice section.

Join the club and then you can post in all sections ;) And there are a few slim speakers that you can fit in the front doors that will give better sound than the TS-Q131C's, you just need to look around.

The front door speakers are a nightmare. I fitted the Pioneer's to mine without the foam that comes with them and loads of rain water leaked in.

I put the foam in and the water getting in has stopped. By all means, try other brands, but the pioneers with a decent head unit are good enough. Any others, be prepared for work to the door card.

My door cards are standard :o

What speakers have you got? You are the first and only person I've heard of not to have any water ingress with anything other than modfied doors, standard speakers, or the TSQ's!

Got to be careful when fitting it - use either a black adhesive (non-silicone as this can corrode the speaker foam in some cases) and ensure there's no gaps in the door. And it'll make it sound a million times better too!

There's only so much sound you can get out of 13cm speakers, I didn't bother trying to fabricate something. The mounting place for the tweaters is not ideal either. If you're after a sound off wining system, I'd not be looking at a Megane!

There's lots you can get out of 13cm speakers, plus there's loads of space to stick horns under the dash as well. So whilst it's not a perfect car for sound, it's not the worst I've seen made good.

Running Focal 130 VRS in the front. I've no water in the car or sloshing about. I do get water come out a hole in the door after I've washed it though :o But I've not checked in the doors since fitting to see if there is a problem. I will be next week though when the whole door card is coming off to dynamat behind.

I've got some open-cell foam stuff to put behind the speaker to prevent water damage if I need to anyway. Better safe than sorry!

Need to find some wadding or something to put under the roof liner at the front and all around the lights and visor connecters. Rattle too much :( Currently have got a microfibre shoved in there and its working ok-ish

Apologies - forgot about the Focals. But for the money, I'll spend it on fuel!

Is it worth messing about though? It's either pioneer or focal, the focal costing more than a reasonable head unit? Or, messing about to make sure the water doesn't get in.

Spend the money on a decent HU, pioneers, decent rears and a sub/amp combo.
