: The GT's revised power output !
Casey-R26 31-07-2008, 10:57:21 Took a trip to tdi north warrington last nite to put it on the rollers to see what sort of gain or loss the new exhaust had made. After 44 runs at RST with a panel filter and dv it made 199.5 bhp and 275 lb / ft torque but the was after 44 runs and it was seriously hot. Anyway since then ive had the map run in about a 9 months and had a straight through k tec/ yanspeed exhaust fitted, anyway after it had been RR at tdi the new figures are 209.4 bhp and torque is now upto 294.5 lb / ft no wonder it pulls so much and Maybe this is why a R26 Couldnt shake me off on the way home from FCS. Just going to buy a new forge intercooler and then put it back on the rollers to see the new figures. :-)
Meg250Ry 31-07-2008, 11:29:07 Thats loads of torque!
how can it make that much more then the 225 without the bhp :s
cactusbob 31-07-2008, 11:29:09 44 runs?
Greg0r 31-07-2008, 11:31:45 could TDI rollers be slightly generous?
to get a correct reading of your bhp increase from your exhaust really need to go to RS rr again.
But either way pushing some nice figures... :)
Casey-R26 31-07-2008, 11:33:30 Yep when it was first remaped paul tried about 40 maps and 2 total of 44 runs on his dyno if you take a look at the graph i posted up of it a while ago it says in the corner how many runs i made :-)
Matty 31-07-2008, 11:36:04 only another 30 bhp and your on the pace then.
Casey-R26 31-07-2008, 11:41:31 only another 30 bhp and your on the pace then.
Is your maths as bad as your dancing then as i didnt realise that the r26 came with 239 bhp. I know my car is quick ask DCP and he will tell you just how good it pulls. Better than having 197 bhp ;-)
Naith 31-07-2008, 11:44:02 quick yes, as quick as darryls? hes got a map aint he too? so runnin circa 250 +?
good results eitherway

Well most standard 225-230's do over think mine was 234 around that figure so if yours had around 200 bhp (depending on rollers) then another 30 bhp should get you there, at least the car with 197 ponys has the 5 most important letters that renualt put on the back of the car SPORT.
cactusbob 31-07-2008, 12:05:35 Don't get bitchy now boys :)
Matty 31-07-2008, 12:14:40 Im not just merely stating that the 5 letters also mean its built in a special place and has had the renault sport chasis touch.
conley 31-07-2008, 12:27:07 Still 50bhp down on a remapped R26. No substitute for BHP.
cactusbob 31-07-2008, 12:28:31 The power isn't the main thing though. The RenaultSports have the chassis improvements and much better handling. The GT simply doesnt have these.
SaintDP 31-07-2008, 12:28:34 Wish I had an extra 50bhp! Now that would be nice.
cactusbob 31-07-2008, 12:32:39 That's the prob with the Clio - a NA engine, very little to gain from a remap
Casey-R26 31-07-2008, 13:09:29 I didnt realise there were so many bitches on the forum. I was unaware that my car had to be a 'sport' to put up any info regarding it ect ! Why do people always feel the need to have a sly dig at a non 'sport' Megane. From my memory matty there has also been a few cars pushing 215 bhp standard so to how can we be sure unless you have it RR like i have done. Either put up or shut up simple answer !

It doesn't. You are more than welcome here :)
Greg0r 31-07-2008, 13:26:11 Handbags at the ready.... :P
ClaneO 31-07-2008, 14:02:20 usual suspect...

I can put up, i had my R26 rollered on pauls rollers and even when it was leaking boost it still did 232 horses i will find my graph, along with Renault sports fine work on the chassis and the suspension. There arent many standard 225s that make under power, if they do they normaly have faulty coils.
cactusbob 31-07-2008, 15:27:05 I really should get my stock 225 on some rollers one day, mine seems monstrously powerful :)

get it mapped too, you should have a healthy 260 bhp. I was reading in Auto car that since Steve Sutcliff got his to the day it went with 14k on it the engine was knocking a couple of BHP more than when he first got it.
ClaneO 31-07-2008, 16:36:12 ^^ yup and it was 6.5 secs to 60 NEW and at 14K it was down to 6.2 :)
cactusbob 31-07-2008, 18:45:18 Well I'vee nly done 11.5K but it certainly feels quicker
jaybyme 31-07-2008, 18:53:23 The few tests I've seen over here are 6.2 and 6.4 sec
0-100mph just on 15sec
remapped etc, under 6sec and about 13sec to 100mph
andy-mcq 01-08-2008, 00:13:32 mines got ZERO BHP at the mo!! should be greatful uve all got sum lol
still waitin on me stupid new key to come from france!!
chris when u gona take me for a spin then lad?
u decided on yer rims yet?
o an my 98bhp r watever the 1.4 has will wooop yer arses ;-)
cactusbob 01-08-2008, 00:19:18 Yup, you'll whup all our asses :)
DannagE 01-08-2008, 14:09:50 Nice MrGT. Still a lovely car tbh :)
leipz 04-08-2008, 17:28:58 i'm guessing you got your peak power (209bhp) at about 5700rpm? if this is the case then your torque at this point was 192lb/ft. This is quite a large drop from 294 at peak torque but it is to be expected (but maybe not that much) so no real worries there.
The interesting aspect is that i'm assuming you get peak torque at ~3300rpm, so your value of 294lb/ft converts to 185hp. This should mean your car has pretty much flat power from 3300rpm to 5700rpm so it should be very easy to drive. sounds good!
and as for you asking why 'everyone' on the forum picks up on your car being a non-sport, well, the forum is called meganesport so you have to expect it really ;)
Casey-R26 04-08-2008, 17:51:08 How can you base your comments without seeing the graph. Peak power was not as 5700 but was at 4500 and my torque at this point was not 192 lb/ft but was still 245 lb/ft.
I think if your going to just 'make' up figures based on not seeing any evidence then i could also make up my own figures and post that my car made 250+.
If the forum was intened for only 'Sports' then why create a section for 'sporthatch' and DCI ?
arby1 04-08-2008, 18:05:48 post up a graph then please!
leipz 04-08-2008, 18:06:50 well you've totally missed the point there and flipped out for no reason. as for the 'sport' comment, notice the ;) ?
and as for making up figures, once you've posted the graph then we'll know, but until you do, i was basing it on an estimate (which i clearly stated) of what the typical rpm is at peak torque and hp. And using a simple formula these two quantities are explicitly linked. And best of all, i was using it to demonstrate the point that your car probably has a very flat power line from 3300rpm up to 5700rpm (which i still stand by inspite of your objection), which will make it a very good/fun car to drive. So i was actually trying to back up your opinion of your car. But as is usual for a lot of your posts, you seem to fly off the handle very quickly. Please post up a pic of the results- it sounds impressive and i'd like to not have to 'make-up' numbers.
leipz 04-08-2008, 18:09:45 even better, based on this old graph of yours,
http://www.meganesport.net/community/showthread.php?t=16110
your peak torque was at 3200rpm and peak power could be taken anywhere from 5000rpm up to 5800rpm as the values are all within the expected tolerance of the dyno. so my made-up numbers weren't too bad actually.
i understand you have a new map on now, so it will be interesting to see how it changes the shape of the power delivery.
don't be so quick to take offence in future.
