Just wondered if anyone on here knows if the gear change light has a plug in LED. Ours has stopped working on the 182 and wanted to know if I can just buy a new LED or have I got to get it repaired?

Thanks

must be from where it was regularly driven hitting the limiter by the previous owner ;)

Yeah. SMD soldered directly to the PCB of the instrument pannel. Easily de-soldered and replaced if handy witha soldering iron.

Keep you finger on the trip computer button then turn the key... this will put the dash into test. Will comfirm if the bulbs fooked, and its fun to watch.. lol

tried it this morning and the light came on. it all seems to be fine now, lights up at the right time when driving

Just remember though... its not a shift light... you have gone past optimum revs at that point.

Its a 'you've gone to far, I'm going to blow up light'

Yeah never found it that handy on my Clio.

Also came on sooner in my 172 than the 182 I used to drive. In the 182 it was only 100rpm before the limiter, which I only hit once and was the only time I've done so in any car!! lol

i find the gear change light comes on a bit early in our 182, particularly in first

that might be intentional as people have a fixed reaction time from seeing the light to shifting/easing off, and in first gear you cover a lot more engine revs in this time so it needs to flash early to give people enough time not to hit the limiter.
