My mate has just bought one, only picked it up tonight, took me for a short spin and there seems to be a strong smell of diesel in the cabin?

The car is on 48k, full history, bought from a main dealer.

Sorry i maybe didn't put it down right...its more the smell you get from exhaust...could it maybe the particle filter??
