: Does a Remap Void Warranty???
GTDave 18-10-2008, 09:09:50 I have heard varying things about this and want to be 100% before I get it done...
Some say it doesn't, some say it does, and some say technically it does but the manufacturer is unlikely to find out as the remap is "hidden".
A garage I have spoken to claim they do this by remapping the original renault software so that when renault plug it in, it still thinks it is a standard map...
Can anyone shed any light on what is true and whats bulls**t???
Cheers:help:
jaybyme 18-10-2008, 09:37:44 basically all of what you have said is correct.
If you tune the engine then your warrenty on engine, drivetrain etc will be void.
But if something happens then obviously it's down to renault to prove that you have done something to cause the problem.
If they can't,then there should be no problem.
If you get the car remapped by a tried and tested tuner, then there should be no problems.
Also with Rstunings remote box, you can put the car back to standard at anytime.
robjnr 19-10-2008, 10:03:25 I've had work done on my car by renault and they knew that i had a remap and FMIC and the back box taken out, and my warrenty wasn't void :)
carlf 19-10-2008, 14:53:01 basically your warranty will be void on parts you change and if renault can prove that by changing these parts it caused the problem, for example if you change or modify the exhaust your renault warranty will no longer cover this part and also may void the warranty on associated parts like the catalytic converter- they may say that the fault resulted in the exhaust being changed.
As for remapping the car all renault will be able to tell is that the ecu was accessed but they wont be able to tell what for- they would have a hard job proving it was remapped, but if your worried why not get the remap with remote box from Rs Tuning that way you can remove the remap when your car goes in the work and put it back on afterwards.
steve@wests 19-10-2008, 15:20:33 ^^^^^^.this person speaks a lot of sense!!!
those of you that have a remap, do you tell your insurer ?
robjnr 19-10-2008, 16:44:09 i had a faulty injector and they still replaced it
jetski 19-10-2008, 17:15:43 those of you that have a remap, do you tell your insurer ?
:dazed002: Of course you do :D
i am with greenlight insurance and told them about the remap no adverse affect
ClaneO 19-10-2008, 19:57:43 ahem remote box, so no...
so, hypothetically of course, if i was to remap my Meg and god forbid i didnt tell my insurer, and then i wrote off my car, that upon inspection, the insurer wouldnt be able to tell that id had it remapped ?
ClaneO 19-10-2008, 23:16:14 im sure he's have to have the clip and computer to access that information but not sure.
GTDave 25-10-2008, 09:11:07 dont think I can get the remote box for mine as its the GT DCi... didnt think it was avaliable for the diesel eingines???
geordie2001 01-11-2008, 00:24:13 Has everyone on here got the ECU Remap for the R26? Is there is a massive difference?
You know what the 0-60 goes to?
robjnr 01-11-2008, 10:16:46 It makes quite a good difference matey, heres a vid of mine 0-60

jaybyme 01-11-2008, 11:16:06 the car should be at least 1 sec quicker throught the gears to 100mph
Bigger gains above 100mph,if you ever get the chance to try that out.
0-60mph should be around 6secs or just under depending on the driver.
In gear acceleration is where you will really notice the difference.
About 7secs quicker 60-125mph in 6th
Dutch F1 R26 02-11-2008, 20:02:49 Big difference! I wouldn't go back to standard now. Can't wait for the stage 2 map:-)

Anyone else got a 0-60 video

so 0.5 seconds quicker then? 0-60
jaybyme 03-11-2008, 06:25:24 0-60mph can vary so much, depends on how you get of the line and conditions.
I think it's safe to say about 6secs or below.
Rstunings car was tested 0-100kmh in 5.9 secs with about 275hp
If you look at Robs video it's more like 5.5secs.
TomF1 with track tyres timed his at 5.44 secs, but with a different map.
