hello all i've got a 1.9dci on a 03 plate ive had the airbag light and service light come on randomly come on in the past but it usually goes away. But i came to start the car this morning and nothing! theres power to the car (can hear radio etc.) But when i press down on the clutch and press start i get nothing. It says the Steering is not locked.:(
What could be the problem?

Have you try'd just the brake and out of gear then start
of maybe there's still not enough power in the battery

yh ive tried it in and out of gear. As for the battery we had it replaced a month ago, and the brakes just a week ago. Could that be causing it?

Possible clutch switch wiring broken, so press the brake pedal when starting.
Check the fuses on the battery with a ohm meter, check the connection on the starter motor.
Other than that needs to be checked on a diagnostic system.

ive tried both clutch and brake while starting, i was thinking it could be lose connection on battery terminals? il have to check when theres better light. But i notice a clicking noise when attempting to start.

dont think it would be fuses on battery as they went on mine, and there was no power to anything. worth checking tho as it'd only be a few quid to replace.
Just had a load of chew on with mine with a similar thing, turned out there where some loose connections to the cpu, two earths needed re soldering.
But you'll have to take it down to somewhere that has a dynostics machice for a meg, and get it checked out, impossible to tell without getting it on one.

correct mate, had the AA out they suspected the card reader. So we took it to renault garage to find it was the steering coloum sensor, we replaced that and everythings working fine now.
i think its time for me to cut my loses with the megane spent a whopping £1000 since i brought it.
thanks for all your help guys!
