Get a phone call from my g/f this morning telling me she has cracked the skin of my wing mirror. I have just rang Renault and they want £17.17 plus vat for the new skin which is fine. It comes primered and will need painting. Just wondered how much i should expect to pay to get it painted Renault said it will prob be around £35 + vat. And is it easy to fit the skin myself??

Its on a Meg 2 DCI 2006. Colour is Met Silver.

Can anyone on here recommend a bodyshop in Essex area??

Don't know how much to paint but it is easy enough to fit. Pull the glass carefully off and unplug the heater element. You'll then see a few plastic tabs you need to release to get it off.

So will the glass just pull off??

Yeah, use the motor to point it all the way down, then use a wide flat object to prise it off. It's not affixed too strongly but just be gentle

Sounds a bit steep, how about a local bodyshop?

i will have a phone around.

Have a word with a decent bodyshop, they may be able to repair and sort it for a lot less.

*edit - as in repair the broken one and respray, rather than the cost of the part + spraying.

As said mate I would try local body shop, I just had some front mud flaps sprayed for £25 to give you some idea, My local dealer quoted around £70 from their recommended paint shop because they supply the paint and take a cut.

£40's way too much, i got both mine done Gloss black for £20

Thanks for your earlier advice Bob re fitting, anyone else got any pointers before I attempt to fit later??

ild love to know aswell, got a spare set of skins, wanna get sprayed white, but dont wanna destroy orignals in process.
