There is a mile long slip road at junction 19 going counter clockwise on the m25. Numerous times ive had some fun with the 3.2 litre tt's.......once one i cant keep up with is that new DSG one thay brought out last year.

I used to have the TT 225 a few year ago (51 plate). Can't say it was a particulary memorable drive, gearchange is pants, handling not brilliant and as for being practicle forget it. Over-priced and far too many of them on the road today. The hair-dresser comment is a bit fresh, can't think of a more apt car for a hairdresser than the 150bhp TT roadster :lol:
The guy who said the 225 doesn't feel quick with no oomph when the turbo kicks in obviously doesn't know his arse from his elbow. Havn't had the pleasure of taking the 225 TT on yet but quite looking forward it :D I would put my money on a 225 Cup/Trophy in a duel with a 225 TT (as long as the road wasn't too greasy).
We all know the Meg is neither the best built or best handling car in the world but we didn't pay TT prices. If I remember rightly reliability of the TT wasn't exactly good either come to mention it. My 225 is nearing 14,000 and I have had no problems at all. I'd sooner have a new 225 Cup and 10k in my back pocket over a TT.

TT's have been out for donkeys years now and i thought they were class to start with, but they have started to turn into a bit of a hairdressers motor now!!

but the same people who bought the last one i.e hairdressers or midlife crisis for women will buy the new one regardless of performance. its the image.

i dont see anyone on here slagging the TT off. there isnt any point to slag the megane, just as guide line the 225megane is faster by some way than a 225 TT and the majority of the ones out there are the 180bhp version.

ok the DSG 250bhp 3.2 is quick with 250bhp but not by much as it has a heavy 3.2ltr engine + 4wd + its heavy anyway + its extra bodykit. so in fact id wager a 225megane would be faster than any TT if the 250 is faster then thats only after 120mph, simply run a bbpt sports exhaust on the 225 to see 247bhp and near 200kg lighter

ohh and dont forget the topgear episode with the original (and better driver) Stig taking the 3.2 v6 TT around the track and it was the worst handling car they have ever had on the show, the stig hated it with a passion, safe to drive but not for sporty driving in any way.

phew... ok some more for you .. Price of TT 250 DSG = over £30,000 !!!!


Megane cup/trophy/F1 = better handling by far, more involving, cooler and rarer, built v.well for price and type as good almost as the current gen vw golf. well specced, two extra proper seats + boot + everthing you could ever need as options.

and... from buymynewcar.co.uk the cup (pre facelift) = 14.8k !!!!!!!!

saving £15000 (at least if not more) !!!!

id just like to separate myself from the badge or the image factor. im not dissing any TT owner (unless there being ignorant about the 225 because its a very good car) im simply stating that the TT isnt good at being a sports car and isnt very fast for its looks, price, insurance.

to say the 225 doesnt feel as fast as other 225`s, could be the ESP,ASR stuff (switchable on cup/trophy/F1) but in truth i think its just a b.****e comment.

auto car did a comparison of super mini`s, Hatchbacks, Saloons, Coupes, Super cars, track day specials etc.. all with 0-60. 0-100 + in gear times and breaking times as well as track comparision.

in its sector the 225 was THE fastest. stock vehicle (trophy) did 0-60 in 6.1 secs ! (225tt does it in 6.8 quoted but probably 6.6

sorry but that is as fast as a permanent awd wrx impreza the estate wrx does 6.1 the saloon is 5.8 best but hard on the clutch no doubt.

0-100 was in the high 15`s i belive.

not slow. a remapped 267hp would be 5.6 60 sixty and probably in the 14`s to 100 and that costs £450

All I can say to TT's is Ta Ta for now........and ever.

The only way a TT is faster than a Megane is when it's ****ing it down.
As for build quality, my mates BMW is better than my wifes peugeot. Oh hang on, it also cost three times as much so if it wasnt better he would be a complete ****, right? Stating the obvious doesnt win the argument, it just makes you look stupid. TT owners won that round easily.
