Hi there all :D !
I am about to put a deposit down tonight on a Black 2004 3-door 225 and just wanted to introduce myself and ask if anyone has any advice before I plump for it?
She has done 15k and is about to go in for the first service before I collect her... All seems okay, but I don't know these cars that well and don't know what I should be looking out for?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated...
Many thanks,
James

P.s. I will be at Trax in September, so might hopefully get to meet some of you there if you are having a stand again!

Welcome along mate, I've only had mine a month so I'm not sure what you should be looking out for. You'll love it though, and black is definately the best colour

No major probs that won't be picked up on a decent test drive. But don't forget as it's an 04 model you will have almost 1 years manufacturers warranty on it still.

Check for nocking on the front end, wear on the drivers lumber support, clicking on the steering at full lock, ability to start using the clutch depressed method, all handsfree sensors on each door working (locking and unlocking) and toxic fume light whilst idling.

All items are covered by warranty (seat wear will be a fight), I'm sure a few more will be pointed out as this thread grows.

Hi mate, I'm looking into getting a 225 in the coming months, how much did you pay if you don't mind me asking?

It is up with a private trader for £12,975 which didn't seem bad at all compared to others I've seen advertised!
I am off for a second look and second test drive tonight (with the missus in tow this time) and am 90% sure that'll I'll be putting down a deposit and with my current car as part exhange in the deal... :D

Will deffo want to do a stainless exhaust as the first mod before too long, but I would want a specific one rather than a custom jobbie, as I've had problems with Powerflow etc in the past!
Do any of the big names (Magnex, Scorpion etc) make systems for the 225?
Thanks for the welcome everyone by the way! I feel at home already and I haven't even bought the car yet...

Blueflame do a specific replacement as do Magnex. I think a couple of other companies sell some of the same systems labeled as their own.

Lots of people on here have the blueflame which apparently is good quality, I can't vouch for this as I haven't seen or heard them in the flesh.

Also I beleive RS-Tuning, who you will see on here as a site partner, are offering a variant soon if not already.

Hi James m8, blue flames are a great zorst, not too loud but have nice sound and rumble at motorway speeds.
Check the rear wiper works ok, the buttons in the handles lock the car properly when you press them, loose trim on the outside of the doors, steering rack doesn't clunk on full turn, anti rattle plates on the brakes can squeek. That said I've had these faults but where sorted straight away and only minor really m8, love me car as the lads will tell you. Come along to the meets and get to know everyone they are all friendly and pass on great advice. Anything you wanna know just ask,
cheers Phill J

Thanks again all!
I put down my deposit last night and am hoping to pick her up next Sunday morning...
I checked for a few things that you guys mentioned to look out for when I test drove her again (sterring rack sounds okay etc) and to be honest, the only fault I could find is a mysterious sqeek in the cabin, which I think I can live with!I will be sad to see my old car (Mondeo ST220) go, but I've never had a Turbo'd car before and so I am looking forward to the change... :D
