It'a a great concept, main problem will be getting a complete picture as many owners don't join forums. But for those of who have it will be interesting!

bluediamond
13-03-2009, 14:05:25
yea that will be a problem mate. I should have thought about it earlier then we could have got pics and found out the numbers of the cars in showrooms.

I have (sneakily) saved as many pics/numbers as poss so far but i dont want to upload pics without permisson lol.

I might give it a trial run over the weekend, if i get chance, to see how it turns out so ill put a link up for comments/advice off everyone :)

thank you guys.. i love the car.. compared to my Dci.. its a great change..

but one thing I love the most (which it shares with my previous CTR) - that this car gives you so much joy even in lover speeds.. on any-quality roads..

and did you see all those radicals there in Dieppe  .. some of them were still inside in the process of manufacture.. (where no cameras were allowed).. but quite a lot.. i was said that mine was the last of 10 they made.. (they produced it on Friday - so very closely prior to my arrival.. )

and what i didn't know - that the new Megane RS will be produced in Spain.. so won't come to Dieppe at all.. where just the new Clio will be made..

and that "Competition zone" - made by phonecam.. it was amazing to see the guys preparing Trophys.. and Cups there..

still have no proper words (still tired, or still amazed).. but it was the best delivery i could imagine..

thanks to all RS team.. if anyone sees it.. and Arun for his advices ..

Hey Diamond ;)
I was at the Nurburgring last month and hired a R26R through RSR. They actually have two R26Rs for hire. I drove the Luner Grey R26R with red wheels, cage, no Titanium. Its number 94

The other R26R in their stable is black with Black wheels (I think) cage and no Titanium either. Didn't get the number of that one sorry.

Well 700 miles in (I read the manual) and find the recommendation to not exceed 68 mph for the first 600 miles (oops!) I have taken it easy upshifting at 4k in each gear (traditionally that is how Ive broken cars in) It feels quicker than my 350Z. I walked around it when I had it on the ramps after buying it nice full length Ti exhaust. Had a look under again yesterday and the entir length (excluding the cat) had turned a lovely shade of blue!

It's titanium from the downpipe, all the way back. The small box in the centre section is the centre-silencer. Meg only has one cat, I do believe, and it's by the engine. Good pics of it in that French thread.

car no. 36 has the titanium exhaust, but not climate - otherwise the details are correct

thanks!!

btw - is there a pic of car 225 (i.e. the 159th)?

I'm guessing someone asked for that number specially - isn't it a model number of one of the other Megane sports models?

Arun
16-08-2009, 23:03:07
Yes I've always assumed they chose 225 to tie in with the original Megane Sport variant, the plaque would then nicely show both power outputs of Megane sport models (225/230). Could be anything really.

I dont think so mate. There are only a couple left unregistered in the uk afaik.

Dont forget, 71 uk cars were never actually built so i recon the rumours floating around (like a field full of R26Rs or a load of cars being shipped back to france etc) will be due to people thinking that the full 230 cars were built, if that makes sense lol :o

NoirProfond
18-08-2009, 23:20:39
hi there

do you happen to know which two are as yet unregistered?

Renault Southend had these two a month or so back:

black, red wheels, cage, toyos, titanium (climate??) sticker price £27,385
blue, black wheels, cage, toyos, titanium (climate??) sticker price £27,145

i think they were marked up at list price, so if you knew the option prices, you could probably work out if they had climate.

fwiw, the car i test drove was reg plate HN58ULB
white, black wheels, cage, toyos, climate (i'm fairly sure)
(similar reg to the car tested in this months EVO, except that ended in a D)

I have a photo of each if you are interested, but i don't know the plaque numbers...

On the matter of the midding 71 UK cars - i cannot imagine that Renault would actually have built these without them actually having been ordered by paying customers or garages. Also, rhd UK cars would only be easily saleable in another rhd market in which the car was homologated. Is there actually one? However, it would be interesting to find out why the EVO journo wrote those comments.

all the best

bluediamond
19-08-2009, 00:02:29
hi mate

Sorry but i have no idea what number the 2 that are left are. With out checking my 'geek folder' it sounds like they are pretty close to list price. From memory option prices were:

Cage/toyos £700
Climate pack £400
Black wheels £150
Pearl paint £1200
Ti exhaust £2250

Car price £23,800 (?) before the drop in tax.

Iv not seen the one you test drove either but it must be in the first batch (there isnt many 58 plates) so i may be able to work out what number it is by checking it against the list.

Post or pm the pics if you dont mind mate :)

Agree with you on the 71 missing cars aswell, thou you can see abit of a colour batch pattern around the middle of the list that i think would be cars that were not actual customer orders.

I dont know what other RHD markets there are tbh but i do know that there are some uk numbered cars that are LHD/foreign registered (a white one #80something and #147 in blue iirc) so the 159 cars in the uk is not strictly true :o

Iv just thought.. A lad on the renaultsport forum is due to pick up a blue .R sometime soon so that could possibly be the blue one you mentioned. Ill drop him a pm and see if he knows what number it is :)

Cheers

Hi Chris

I've examined the pdf file data in a bit more detail now that i have most of it (and all of the uk cars) in Excel.

Here's what i have found:

I think the blue car per the above could well be car 153 - the price being £27,140, made up as 24,040 + 700 (cage/toyos) + 150 (blk wheels) + 2250 (Ti). (In fact in my picture (which i will send you) the last digit of the price is hidden, so i had guessed the '5'...)

Of more interest though is that the chassis number (and the colour / spec) of U.K. cars 120, 122, 125, 126, 127, 132, 133 are the same as 'Overseas' cars 01-07.

This suggests to me that perhaps these seven cars were designated originally for the UK, but were then either sent back to go to wherever 'Overseas' happens to be (how about South Africa? - they drive on the left). Maybe this is the basis for the comments made in EVO - except it was 7 cars not 71??

If this is correct it means only 152 'U.K.' cars (not 159) of which only 4 are liquid yellow - not the 7 you would think at first glance.

Anyhow, thats enough sleuthing for tonight - would be interested to hear your views...

i had forgot yours was LHD gustav. Will add that onto the list :) if you open up the folders on the USB mate the numbers are in the "pack liste" folder.

Noir, sounds like that could be the car then mate. Quite a pricey one lol. Will await the pic when you get chance to post it up. It could be the car that a lad on renaultsport is having.

Thats quite interesting re the chassis numbers. They could possibly be LHD cars aswell hence having overseas chassis numbers or, as you say, could have been RHD cars sent off to a niche market in some other country. I guess we will never be able to figure it all out unless we can get a photo of every car that was made.

I wonder if anyone has emailed EVO to ask why they say there are a boat load of cars being shipped back to europe? It could just be a mistake on there part (like a couple of issues ago they said the seats were recaros lol)

NoirProfond
20-08-2009, 12:32:01
re the blue car - pricey yes, but a month ago it almost certainly could have been purchased for ~15% off that price... I know this, re the Black car that was at the same garage and would probably have been the easier of the two to shift... Still, since then we have had the TG and most recent EVO reviews, so who knows!

Hi Chirs

just been looking at you photo database:

you say that car HN58ULB (the one I test drove, as it turns out) is number 003; however the pdf lists car 003 as having a Ti exhaust, whereas HN58ULB does not. See last picture from your RUK album, if you want to see what i mean. So either this is not number 003 or the pdf is wrong!!

finally, you list some cars as '(RSR)'. What does this mean?

It is a beast. Makes my R1 look and feel slow. 100% concentration required to drive it.

I don't do many miles in it, but every one makes me grin from ear to ear. Aside from the looks, I still can't believe its a Renault, but that just reflects my ignorance of the marque and everything they seem to have been achieved with the Renaultsport range!

Re #116. Out of interest, which dealer has this car and is it really still unregistered? I can only think the seller is asking list and any potential buyer is then put off by the purchase prices he then reads about on this forum!!

This is the £28.5K Lunar car at Sewards Portsmouth, is it not?

Guys I know this is off topic, but have any of you bought a second set of wheels? Im struggling to find the a set in the offset of ET68. Is this really the correct offset? I am looking for something lighter than the OEMs ideally a Team Dynamic. But they dont list such an offset?

Help? Opinions?

it was for sale by marc elgar (sadly not a renaultsport dealer now but i had my car off him and he is a top lad and did my an awaying deal) in a dealership in portsmouth but it was/is up at 26 or 27 grand but i think this was down to the DP thou as its much more expensive than marcs normal 'super' prices. It still had a couple of thou knocked off the list price.

Young hallet should be able to confirm if its sold or not. I believe his dad was looking at/considering buying it a couple of weeks ago.

Yes mate afaik that is the correct offset but dont quote me on that lol.

I have on idea what light wheels are available tbh im afraid. A couple of lads have bought a 2nd set of wheels but these are either track wheels or winter wheels.

I can see a "bahnstormer mission" coming on now thou.. :D
