I took my car in for some warranty work last week.

I needed a replacement rocker cover as I had an oil leak. Anyway, they had to replace a number of other things at the same time such as the timing belt, aux belt and cam seals.

The problem is now my car sounds like a diesel?? the exhaust sounds like it is miss firing and the rev counter is constantly moving over and under 1000k when idle.

Im looking to try and take it back to be looked at next week just wondering if anyone has any ideas what it could be.

Thanks.
David

sounds like the timing belt might have been fitted incorrectly.

You can't replace the rocker cover. It's line bored with the head. If you needed a replacement one then you'd need a replacement head!!

Are you sure you don't mean they resealed it?

If its that bad then the cam timing may be totaly buggered - very bad things happen as a result so get it checked ASAP!

Cheers
M

No AC warrington.

Ah right, I have had my car in at AC Warrington and have to say i've had mixed service.

Once it went in fine for a service, came out with a broken o2 sensor, Had to drive it straight back.

Sounds like they have not fitted the belt correctly, or maybe a tooth or two out?

Let us know how you get on.

UPDATE: Girlfriend took the car in today to have it checked over. Just had a phone call to say they need to keep it for a couple of days to do more test as they still don't know what the problem is.

And there are no courtesy cars available either?? Luckily I can use my girlfriends car next week.

All fixed now apparently just waiting for some super dooper Renault engineer to phone to tell me what was wrong with it? Fingers crossed.

Edit: Just phoned, didnt have a clue what he was on about. Menntioned something abouit oil being blocked and this was affecting the VVT??? Proof is in the drive when I get home I think.
