Just finished cleaning and polishing my megane. Don't know why because in this weather a mile down the road and it looks like crap.

Been useing Autoglym and its not bad, but was wondering what everyone else uses?

Any useful wise tales for making the car look good for longer?

I've been using Meguiars stuff since i got the Megane and i'm pretty impressed so far.

They do some tasty products, their wax/polishes bring up a great finish on my inferno 225 :D :D

i also use Meguiars gold polish and there tyre shine and wheel cleaning gear, bit pricey compared to other stuff but it leaves a great finish on the body.

Ok then dave wants to know again!

I use a waterless car wash, its full of canuba wax and is 100% organic.

It waxes polishes and uv protects your paint work.

From rotten dirty to a glossy wax finish in one wipe.

It doesn't scratch your paint work or leave any swirl marks at all.

So you could even wash your car once you get to a meet or a cruise!

If you would like the looong version of how this works you can have a look here: http://shinyautos.com/shop/product_info.php/products_id/70

If i run out of this i use the flash car wash with the auto dry thingy, its works well and always leaves the pain out of leathering off your car.

Hi,

I use Swissol onyx wax which is really good and one of the cheaper 'premium' waxes retailing at £40 approx. For wheels it's Virosol which is amazing, not much work involved at all and Zymol, Swissol or Activ-F for car shampoo.

Cheers
Hugh

Just used Meguiars Quick Clay (quick my ass, bloody liars) and that Williams F1 with Carnauba from Halfords. Both of which seem to be very good :)

I have tried everything going and have two big shelves full of cleaning stuff including: -
Autoglym Resin
Autoglym High Gloss
Meguires 3-stage (Body scrub, Pure Polish, Resin)
Meguires Gold Class
Turtlewax
Simoniz Extreme
Simoniz Rapid
Simoniz Diamond
Automagic
Colormagic
Rainex
Comma stuff
Etc., etc

I also have a number of different car shampoos as well as interior, trim, glass, wheel, and tyre stuff, specialist brushes, finishing pads and wipes.

I must have spend over 300 quid on this lot, looking for something that is either quick and/of good! (mug punter or what!)

My conclusion is that the Meguires 3-stage system is the best, but takes over 3 hours to do, followed by washing using Meguires or Simoniz shampoo. I use Autoglym alloy wheel cleaner every now and again, then Resin sealent.

The worst stuff I've used is some mail order crap that I can't remember the name of that I saw on the telly (some shopping channel that I stumbled into whilst searching for porn, no doubt). It came in a black bottle and repells water, do you don't need to leather. It seems to be heavy on astringents, so strips any shine (and probably oxygen from your paint if used long-enough), meaning that the paint goes dull and loses its lustre.

Still think mines the best: when it went for its service i told the geezer there was something wrong with the paint. It was black not blue! Da da! They washed it for me

Up until today always used Autoglym (except for shampoo) but had a slight 'accident' whilst washing and scratched the paint so bought some Meguiars Scratch X, and hey, why not some Gold class liquid wax and quik clay whilst I'm at at? lol

All I can say is WOW, this stuff is fantastic. The Scratch X seems to have sorted the scratches and the clay is amazing. Even on a 5 month old car the muck it took off is amazing. Started getting cold and dark before I could do the whole car but I think am converted.
