Well it has to happen at some point doesnt it?? I was thinking of organising something possibly for later this year or maybe when the season kicks off again early next year? Something along the lines of going over there say monday and having 3 nights/two full days on the circuit or two nights and one day on the circuit? What would peoples preferences be?

Has anyone else been to the ring previously? I've not been before so any advice would be appreciated.

So who would be up for it??

Went last weekend :D :D , will post some pic's in the next few days , weekend (Sunday) is best as that is the longest opening hours, during the week they only open for a couple of hours, althought opening hours do change on a weekly basis. had a good couple of hours there looking at the cars and bikes then did a few laps. The other half only managed one lap and would not come back out with me(could not handle how close the other vehicles get to you during the bends), single lap tickets are 16 euros, 4 lap tickets are 56 euros, circuits web site is www.nuerburgring.de

it was fun

could go round in the ring taxi (M5 BMW) for 180 euros with a 50-50 chance of being driven by Sabine Schmitz, or for about 400 euros (i think it was) can get driven round in a race tuned Dodge Viper.

done this on my bike before and I would definetly recommened getting your driving perfect, its a bloody scary track but ****ing brilliant, i would recommened it to anybody, got my bike up to 157mph on gps on it, although i did nearly come off on quite a few twists which was very scary, although there was milkfloats going around it and trucks and everything, some brilliant views, if its ok i would love to come with this, could actually take my video camera and record it this time

I've done this a couple of time with Cliosport - it's a really good laugh. :D

It's worth noting that Spa Francorchamps circuit is quite close to the Nurburgring, so you can do a day at the Ring and a trackday at Spa (we did this in 2004). It's worth making the effort after driving all that way! Easytrack do trackdays at Spa every May.

Personally I think a day at Spa is better than the Nurburgring (no problems with coaches and motorhomes going round the circuit!!) but both are great in different ways.

jon... count me in....

Im not sure id get our 225 in the ring (lack the skills and gonads) but definitely would love to drive there and have a good time AND go around in the Ring Taxi.... Wrote to the guys who organize it and they said the following

1.- Season open from april to october
2.- Specific dates are set around january
3.- Tickets begin to sell Dec. 1st.

60 euro per head (assuming we're 3 in the car + driver) sounds excellent for such an experience...

Dear Mr.Blanco-Velo,

The BMW Ring-Taxi drives from April – October, but the dates for the next year will become available at the beginning of March.

Before you can book a date you must buy a Ticket. The Ticket sale opens for next Year calendar on December 1. You can buy it from our website .

havent heard anything else... unless theyve opened another thread and I havent been watching it...

The Dieppe-Ring thing would be absoeffing fantastic...

who are the RS people BTW?

As the taxi people said... ticket sales start december... so we better start booking. its 60 quid per place in the car x 3. So if at least 3 of us confirm.... we know

I just got chatted up by the bloke who did my service at Renault.

We were talking about the ring and how well my brakes had lasted me.. and he said "i bet the other half goes with you and you race eachother" to which i replied i didnt have another half...

then about 2 mins later we were talking about Spa, and he said "i'll take you to spa if you like" so i quickly changed the conversation back to the service sheet he'd just handed me! haha

More info please!

How much are we looking for a trip and has anyone done it in their meg? How much wear are we looking at on brakes/tyres? Does anyone wanna post how much it costs if you smash into something too... (for info of course, but for those loons out there, it'll need to be taken into consideration!).

What happens if you power into a corner too and someone has stacked it and you go into them? Whose fault is it? Surely if you're on a track you expect it to be clear (or I take it there are marshalls with flags..).

did a Ring trip this year in my Fabia VRS with Briskoda , went on Norfolkline ferries £49 return , stayed at Centreparcs about 6 miles from the Ring , basic Chalet £48 each if 8 sharing , obviously a better chalet would cost more because a basic chalet is just that BASIC !
filled up with fuel in England , drove from Chester to Dover , A14/E40 through France , filled up in Belgium , then to the Ring , thrashed it round there for a weekend , filled up again just outside the Ring ,back to France and filled again to take advantage of the cheap fuel , probably spent 120Euro on fuel on the continent but as the 225 does half the mpg as the diesel VRS i could see you double that at least
the more tickets you buy for laps of the track the cheaper it is , one of the Briskoda members did 39 laps
food and drink , as we were basically self catering at Centreparcs , the food was reasonable cheap at the shop , and the alcohol also in the club thing they had on site
i would definetely recommend anybody to go there at least once even to just get it out of your system
just keep out of the way of the quick cars and bikes , they will only pass on the L/H/S but keep an eye in the mirrors
i didn't take out any special insurance , but obviously that was at my own risk , there were a few crashes the weekend we went , none involving us though
oh and a final thought its the same but completely different to GT4 if you know what i mean

Surely thats the risk of being on a track!

I'm very interested in going not sure if my baby would make it as far as the track though. Not sure i can afford new tyres, pads and discs at the same time.

Seriously? Because a roomy support vehicle is always really useful and we could lob the track wheels, tool kit, spare gearbox for the 5sp 12 etc. in it.

Shiney,
in order to get my R26 the boss tried to call my bluff in the fact that "if your getting a new car then I want one too", thinking I would say oh that will be too expensive and get neither, I went ahead and ordered both my R26(can't wait ) but also a spanker 1.2 Clio for her!!!! which I may add is a superb small car and she's over the moon with it. Problem being what the hell will she possibly demand to allow me to leave the country for a long weekend:confused:
