Hello all!

I've just ordered a 225 cup from clicky (www.nationwide-cars.co.uk)

My mind was made up due to the discount on offer, the lack of the new civic type R for a few more months, and the fact that the Golf is the biggest clit car out there. I love the megane's unique styling, and the amount of power it has. A real cult car in the making?

When I had a test drive though, I didn't feel like it was that powerful if you know what I mean? I assumed it was me not being used to it, but when I drive the missus Mini Cooper S, that feels really frantic. I thought another 50bhp would feel like warp-speed? Or maybe the ESP needs turning off?

lots of differeing factors, no renualt is born even most have bad casts and rubbish inlets some have great ones and push big power, best thing to do is wait until you get it let it warm up then wait 5mins for the oil to heat up and then thrash it, seals the piston rings and will give you some great power. next up get the remap its very fast with it

I bet that's not in the manual either!

I have gone for deep black (shame I missed the black gold - cost saving I guess?). Delivery is expected End of october, with production of the car expected to start Sept.

I'm looking at ordering a 225 in black myself. Does the new 'deep black' count as metallic (extra cost like the black gold), or solid?

Only asking because some of the online deals seem to include metallic paint in the price of the full fat, but not the cup.

i would 99% say that the black is a metalic paint, its there best selling colour so they would not loose that apeal and not now have it in metalic.

Cheers all! Seems like a very good forum from what I've seen!

I paid £360 extra for the black, so I'm guessing it'll be metallic. My thought being black gold was black with gold coloured particles, deep black being black with regular metal coloured particles..

It may be more like the Pearl Black they did on some other cars. That was a nice colour when polished up

But is Adam's just a regular black gold 225 cup with tints on the rear windows?

I mean that, aside from the black gold vs deep black, that's how mine should look?

Adams is a 225 FF + Cup, but yes apart from the colour that's how yours will look   Don't think he has tints though

Hello and welcome along Mr T. I have owned both the Mini Cooper S and now the 225 with all mods and remap. We had the Cooper S the day it was released. It maybe feels quicker because you can hear and feel the Supercharger and the car is v. small and chuckable. The 225 however has extremely smooth power delivery and such a capable chasis that it never actualy feels as fast as it is going. It is only once our good friend Paul from RS Tuning has had a play with it, does the 225 feel realy misile like. Believe me you will notice the difference. I came up behind a Cooper S on the A1 a few weeks ago, he looked in his mirror and put his foot down, he couldn't believe it when I just cruised up behind and then obliterated him once he ulled over, in fact he was so ****ed off as I passed he made some strange hand gesture towards me, a closed fist moving up and down quite rapidly!!!!!! My 14 year old son thought the look on his face was hilarious.
Good luck with the meggy and welcome aboard.
Cheers Phill. (If Carlsberg made Renaults, then mine would probably be the best in the country!!)

[quote - all the above!]

I'm hoping so. The test drive was not exactly a long one, and my take off the first time was particularly poor! Plus I didn't know the road. I'm sure I'll get used to it, and I did find it to be quite comfy (considering how harsh the cooper s ride is, and that has just 17's). It has 50 extra horses, I struggled to keep 167 from my gti-6 on the road this morning ( combination of wet road and sh!t pirrelli's..).

Just to let anyone whose interested know..

A few people have PM'd me to ask what my experiences of Nationwide cars are.

As yet, the car is still on order with an estimated delivery in October. This matches what other people ordering at the same time have said.

Until I take delivery, I'll not be in a position to comment on how good or not the overall service is. Once I know, I'll let you all know!

So far, top class. Good communication, always available on the phone/e-mail. Bit slow in sending formal paperwork out, but we're only talking a couple of days. But from now is where they prove themselves... Not helping myself by getting married then going on honeymoon next week though, could be delaying myself!

OK, I've been the one chasing on the phone, but always still available/will return calls.

Call back today confirmed the car will be at the dealers 16th Oct :D :D originally said 20th. I should actually have the car 20th :D :D :D Also happens to be the weekend my best mate is coming from Kent to stay :D Fingers crossed everything goes to plan.

Have to agree, Cooper S's don't stand a chance. I've beaten 1 with 2 other people in the car (he only had himself in). They are my favourite car to destroy!

Well, car is now delivered, here is my verdit on this broker..

I had to do a fair bit of chasing on the phone, but their timelines were pretty accurate. They brought the delivery date forward a week, then it went back a week. Other than that, no issues.

I did save a lot on the list price, but I also had a car to sell which was 8 years old.

If I had my time again, I'd probably look to see what I would have got from a dealer as a px, what price I could have got on the 225 and maybe gone the 0% route. I reckon I'd have been maybe £1-£1.5k worse off (once you factor in intrest on HP), but I'd have had it direct from the dealer so could have gone to apply pressure in person, and also, importantly, might have got the car a couple of days earlier!! It's all swings and roundabouts though, so if broker is the route for you, don't hesitate to use these guys. A phone call a week was all it took to keep updated. I also got trailered delivery for only a £77 premium. Worth it for me, I now know exactly where my car has been and what has happened to it since it was 10 miles old!

If anyone gets in touch, tell Luke that Leigh Turner recommended you. Nothing in it for me, but he'll know he's done a decent job if he gets recommended!
