: Hi and some questions on options

First of all just want to say Hi as I've just joined the forum :)

I'm looking to replace my Mk5 Golf GTI next year and after initially doing a lot of sniffing around the Scirocco GT and the Scirocco R as my choice I started to get very interested in the 250 as an alternative.

Anyway - to cut a long story short I'm pretty sure now that the 250 gives me better value and just as good a car as the Scirocco (if I can get a decent discount).

This is what I'm speccing at the moment:

RenaultSport Megane 250 (not the cup edition).

Options:

LED daytime running lights
Carminat TomTom (not sure about this one - wanted to ask if it was any good?)
Electric folding heated door mirrors (also not sure - need to find out if they fold automatically or if you have to press a button like the Scirocco ones?)
Arkamys 4x30 RDS radio with single CD and Bluetooth and multi-functional TunePoint. Is this a good system? I mean how does it compare to the Dyaudio system that VW offer?
I'm assuming the standard alloys for this are the anthracite Keza ones? - otherwise I will need to change.

What do you guys think? Am I missing any obvious ones?
I'm not looking to run this on the track - its just a new day to day car for me and my two kids. Sort of sensible when they are in the back ... but gloves off when they aren't :)

Also - if anyone can help me with the questions I have on options above it would be much appreciated :)

Many thx

Si.

Hello!!!
You obviously don't want the cup pack, but there is a cup-pack snobbery amongst RenaultSport cars so be aware of that.

LED lights - no comment ;)
TomTom - only seen it in a Clio, its a World renowned product.
Folding mirrors - are on a toggle switch if I remember rightly from the megane III hatch I drove
No idea on sound system, I understand it has 3D sound, whatever that means. Again the Megane III hatch I drove, which had the 15W system with Bluetooth etc which seemed alright!
Standard alloys for the sport version are the Keza, yes.

You may want to spec the visibility pack as it comes with LED Lights? Depends whether you want Xenons or not.

Not trying to put you off, but get down your local dealer to see a Megane Coupe normal, to see if the rear leg room is sufficient for your kids. It is a bit tight ;) but without the Recaros may be OK.

Good luck!

Hello mate and welcome. I have already ordered mine but I have had 2 megane sports previously, but like scruffy said you might want to spec the visibility pack as you get the xenons in that and also the electric folding mirrors and led day time lights,
As for the stereo I have ordered this with my car, still unsure what it sounds like yet but if you can hold off till march I can tell you.
I have never been a fan of sat navs built in as I always like taking them from car to car, the other option is the sport monitor, again this is personal preference, The keza wheels do look like the better style in my opinion, As when you spec it up to a cup pack they change to satin black axl wheels which I have got on order and I think i will be changing at some point. Cup pack is a good spec but again down to your self and what you will use the car for.

does the visibility pack come with folding mirrors? I thought they were just came heated and electrically adjustable in the pack? If so, that makes the visibility pack an even better option.

Thx for the welcome and the advice chaps :)

I tried the kids in the back of a normal megane coupe at a dealer last week and it was fine... just :) I Hope the leather front seats in the 250 aren't much bigger tho. They said they were getting a 250 demo this week .. but it hasn't turned up. Hopefully next week.

Visibility pack sounds good .. but are Xenons worth the extra? I'm not sure .. never driven a car with them. Anyone have experience of them and what the advantages are?

Still undecided on White or Grey at the moment. Seen nice pics of both colours :)

I had xenons on my R26 and now on my Leon and I prefer them over the standard lights, for both looks and clarity of vision. I'd definitely spec the Visibility Pack if I was buying a 250. That, the Cup Pack and the Renaultsport Monitor would be my choice of options

Scruffy: yes the visibility pack comes with folding mirrors as I queried it before I ordered and Andy @ wests checked it out for me hence the reason I went for the pack as it does make it better than adding led lights and folding mirrors as for a little bit more you can get xenons which I really wanted.

Cayman R26 : yes I am interested in selling them when I get the car as I will be putting some compomotives on probably.
So get in touch around march time, will you want the tyres or you got your own?
