: 225 first service
craigyR27 25-01-2006, 20:21:05 i going to book me car in for a service as i got the little spanner flashing and the change oil message i just done over 15000 miles mine is not supposed to go till 18000 but debate over that issue.
so i phone up my local rennault dealer give her my reg etc she says it will cost £265 for my first service so they can kiss that.
so now i got ktec racing to do mine £135 plus vat and they going to fit me boost gauge as well at the same time.
but renaults price was just stupid, why all renault dealers prices differ from other renault dealers so much.

Craig, there should be no difference in prices for services - they have a standard charge / rate from Renault UK for 225's ?
craigyR27 25-01-2006, 20:27:10 well mine are conning me then gave her my reg detail etc and she asked if it was its first service and she came out with £265 dont ask me how they got that price . most people pay about £130 to £150 i thought for there first service
what are people paying then on there first service?
Jon Seal 25-01-2006, 20:47:31 ktecs price sounds good, mine was 150 with RS Tuning
JamieMac 25-01-2006, 20:51:34 Got mine free coz mines an old ****ter, but it would have been about the £300 mark with a set of new brake pads, didnt pay for the pads either :?
craigyR27 25-01-2006, 20:52:21 yes getting them to do it now
can people post when they had there first service ( what milage) and how much they paid be interesting to know the prices and at waht miilage all the warning messages were displayed.
seems like some came on at 17000 some came on at 15000 just seems strange to me
JamieMac 25-01-2006, 20:54:36 Oh and my change oil soon light came on dead on 18000 so that was when it was done :D
mike_d225 25-01-2006, 20:59:22 Had mine done at 17600, got the change oil soon lights on at about 17000 but in the same boat as jamie as mine was free also. Amazing what you get if you kick up enough fuss :D :D :D :D

Servicing rates aren't standard for any Renault. There is a basic cost price for the parts that are used in the service, however, there is the labour rate to go on top of that and that varies according to the dealership.
The last garage I worked at was £50 per hour and the current one I work at is £80 per hour. Depending on which service you get done, you can be charged upto 4 hours labour for this so it can make a big difference.
Ktec's price is awesome though!
Bubba
craigyR27 25-01-2006, 21:08:20 my main dealer wanted car for 2 hours they said so there labour must be pretty high
I had my first service couple of weekends ago @ london west.
I cant state exactly what i paid as i get a staff rate but it was deffo more than ktech and RSTuning. Full price came out at about £240ish......worked to about 2 hours labour + parts + Vat.
The change oil light came on at 17k ead and i knew through my sources that this isnt a major issue so i left it till its service. I had it serviced at like 18030 miles.
On a slightly different note about the servicing milage......there has bee huge debait about what the actual mileage should be for the reset of the counters. After speaking to technical at Head Office in short its whatever it says in your handbook. The Euro4 cars have to be services very 12k miles and the pre Euro4 cars like every 18k.
To be honest i probably would have sold the car by its next service anyways :P.... liiking to sell it when its 2.5-3 years old which is about this time next year.
Craigy i had mine done at K-tec, but they didn't fit a pollen filter!
said they forgot to order it!
so check up on that!
Also they put 10W40 oil in it aswell
Probably why its cheaper don't get me wrong if 10W40 is good enogh for a scooby its good for te megane.
I've got two spare filters anyway so i change it every 6k and get the service done at 18K as per schedule
phil
my main dealer wanted car for 2 hours they said so there labour must be pretty high
It took my technician 2 hours to do the service.....that was at a Renault Minute centre.
craigyR27 25-01-2006, 21:26:40 hi phill cheers mate, i just sent them an email asking i want the pollen filter changed and will they use fully syththetic oil wait for thre reply now its all booked in for when i go down on the 6th doing the service and fitting the boost gauge.
is there much difference in the oil they used in your car to fully symthetic oil not bothered long as the car runs ok
Runs fine m8, but if renno say use 5W40 thats what should be in it i guess
so i'm gonna swop it, the filters the same as the clio 1.8 16V and williams etc so easy to get hold off (my mate had some renno ones he gave me)
I unfortunately didn't notice until i saw the job printout a few months after
might still have a winge tho'
phil
forgot to add let me know what they say about the oil, if they done it by mistake they might swop mine!
craigyR27 25-01-2006, 21:35:08 yes i see what they say, long as it does the car no harm i aint bothered but just nice to go in there and ask for things that they prob dont think i know about, least now when i go in i can check, but its getting a service alot cheaper then i would pay at a main dealer so cant be to unhappy
Yep exactly mate, as long as the books stamped and renno parts used the warranties fine!
craigyR27 25-01-2006, 21:45:23 yes will let you know what oil they use or grade so it should be 5W40 not
10W40 what the difference mate is one thicker or summit
The 5 and the 10 relates to a certain viscosity at that temperature i think
so the 5 becomes thinner quicker than the 10 i think, suppose the 5 protects the engine bit better, but thats what warranties are for!
something like that anyway
phil
craigyR27 25-01-2006, 21:55:03 cheers mate

ste01 26-01-2006, 07:54:27 Hi Craigy give Olympain Renault at New Milton a ring use them for my previous megane and got my cup from them, always had good service from them. Had them do just a oil and filter change 2 weeks ago after the run in period (engine oil, oil filter, sump plug washer, oil ,labor and the vat ) that cost approx £93 and a few pence

The Olympian here at Blandford has gone into receivership, is that one the same?
phil
ste01 26-01-2006, 08:00:07 as of tuesday they were still trading but do not know about now will give them a ring later and check
ste01 26-01-2006, 08:55:35 Just rung Olympian at New Milton and they are still operating and providing full sales and service support.
Just Blandford then!
they weren't too bad either!
craigyR27 27-01-2006, 23:13:47 phil didnt say what grade oil they would use but they said they would change the pollen filter
ste01 28-01-2006, 16:14:21 all thats on my service invoice is Mobil 1 full synthetic
Bubbles 28-01-2006, 18:08:03 my little clio had her first service today :) 12k..
i got 2 quotes, i live between a Renault Dealership... and a Renault Garage.. the Dealership wanted £205 (although they did reduce the price to 180) and the renault garage wanted £130!
They told me the difference in the price is that the garage dont have to charge the extortionate (sp?) rates that the dealership does.. all the same work/genuine parts..
So she was in today at 9, they gave me the most horrible coutesy car ever... but better than nothing, and she was ready at 11.30! :)
Service guy was obsessed with the colour and my exhaust, he was very surprised it was mine
Bubbles 28-01-2006, 18:14:19 Oh and with the oil thing.. i dunno if its the same with the clio as it is the meggy.. but i was told they put fully synthetic oil in at your first service... but when i ran out a few months ago, i should of only put half synthetic oil in (which i did) :)
JamieMac 28-01-2006, 18:21:12 Maybe you should take our cars in for us as it sounds like the lady charm works
Carl P 28-01-2006, 18:21:22 Did they say if your exhaust might invalidate the warranty at all Bubbles
Bubbles 28-01-2006, 18:23:42 When i bought the car at the dealers (and traded in my little modded 172) i said to them i would be adding tints, exhaust, lowering it.. and would it be a problem.
They said no, and to be honest they were very good with my 172 and its warrenty.
So im not worried about the mods causing any problems
phil didnt say what grade oil they would use but they said they would change the pollen filter
10W40 then i bet!
Not very impressed with them to be honest but they are local and convenient!
