I like exiges but never been a fan of the elise. The VX220 is a far more handsome looking car IMO plus you get a more reliable engine (than a k series anyway) and they are far cheaper (and rarer)

hmmm... depends on A.) what you do to the Lotus and B.) what model it is.. i.e there are quiet a few S2 exiges out now bit like a choice between a wrx vs STI yet originally the S1 exige was only seen as a hardcore track car and was v expensive. for me its one of the best looking cars in the world with many tweaks and mods avaliable i would have a S1 exige over a S2 exige (as that looks like an elise with a spoiler on) even though the S2exige is a much better car .. here is a pic im using on my desktop background i cannot better it so its been on a while. carbon fiber parts all round very subtle, splitters, spoilers, intakes light mods, full custom respray on bodywork and wheels its amazing imo and i would love to own it, this car is so much better looking than any VX220 i have ever seen and looks and is a proper race capable car.. Stunning

The colour is a bit in your face for everyday driving, but I could get used to it

depends how far you want to take it really. Exiges are obviously very good but your getting into the realms of it being a very expensive toy or a big comprimise on an everyday car for the money. At that level (upwards of 18k to 30k) I would probably rather have a 350z or an m3, just puts it into prespective how expensive lotus' are. IMO you'd have to be seriously commited to having one to spend that kind of money on whats essentially an elise with a hard top

I have looked in to this subject in great detail my only advise is , if your serious about buying one then go for the Toyota engined models as the K series engines are not that powerful and being n/a are expensive to tune.
For instance the base Elise on earlier models is 130bhp with k series engine then there the is the vvt k series engine giving approx 156bhp,again n/a and expensive to tune.
The current 190bhp Toyota engines are far better and are again n/a engines.
The ultimate one to get is the current supercharged Exige. Serious ££££.
Have driven all variants of these and can quite confidently say you would be disappointed unless you had the current base Toyota 190bhp unit or the Exige.

Anyway i think some of you know where my ££££ went

Cheers
