Right, with my craving for more power, as I've given up hope with the Meg, popped down to for a test drive in the above.

Holy crap its fast, forgot 1st-4th, the shove in 5th or 6th is amazing. I knew it was going to be great handling, but wanted to see what it was like when driving normally. Has more off boost oomph than the Meg, suspension only slightly stiffer, not as civilised quite raw actually, very much old school, all engine and chassis, sod the packaging.

Planted the seed with the missus, so have to wait and see. A number of brochures strategically placed around the house.

Had a dice in the Meg with an original Scooby estate, sh*t all over me. Fourth gear was pretty close, but soon as I changed up to 5th he was gone. Caught upto him at some traffic lights, and he said it was running the standard 215bhp.

A Scoob wagon shouldnt provide to many probs m8, once your in 3rd gear you should see them off easily.

Only thing about the Evos for me is that they need servicing every 5k if you get an FQ variant which I think is really a bit of a cheeky money maker for the mitsi dealer network but there you go. If your wanting pure performance your probably heading in the right direction!

a wrx wagon classic are **** slow with their weight and transloss 215bhp isnt what you get at the wheel i passed them quiet easliy in my 172 clio. not only that the older they are like most cars the less power the put out.
even a new wrx 225 (222bhp) is same hp as the megane but weighs more and again has 4wd transloss so you should pass one of those.

maybe you feel the meg is slow because yours isnt pushing out much power :!:

a remap`d meg would be faster in a straight line than a Evo-260 and depending on meg varaint and a decent engine would keep up with and not lose much ground to a 280hp evo (which is pretty much what all of them had until the FQ series came out) and at which point fair enough a 300hp evo would be noticebly faster in a straigh line (corners anyone ? lol)
but there is a price difference and of course like you mention packaging features, interior design and comfort is out of the window (its a rally car FFS !)

so yea performance is electric but the relative cheap purchase price (compared with a porsche etc..) is always offset by insurance, tax, fuel gulp  , and of course 4-5k service intervals i.e every 6months.

you cant get over its running costs and hardcore nature. also you will impress chavs or I.T people only, stylish chicks will dig the meg more 8)

get your meg checked if 215hp estate classic scoobs are wasting you lol

As for Evos think there getting a bit long in the tooth now.

My Money would be on the up coming Evo X.

Looks more up to date and should go like foooook , will just have to wait and see.
