hope you all like ;):laughing2:
craigRS 14-07-2010, 19:28:48 i like it, will look great when lowered.. what springs have you got coming?
really not liking the 'fat ass' badge below the renault though :(
Blaine 14-07-2010, 19:49:14 Looking good mate
I so want some seats for mine!!
What did you do with the Nervasports?
JamesH30 14-07-2010, 20:11:39 Good effort - defo needs lowering though to get it 'sitting' right.
Stevie 14-07-2010, 20:33:42 Looking good mate welcome to the replica club ive got one too
stevie
snapper25 14-07-2010, 21:59:11 Are they really 17's. I dont no if it's because it's a non sport and not lowered but they look tiny.
Some 225's come with 17's but they dont look that small.
hadzry 17-08-2010, 05:27:36 black or dark wheels usually look smaller to the eye where brighter coloured one like silver do look a lot bigger..
hi nathan, i have the same meg like yours and with the same stealthy colour too, the best colour for the meg imo..
stevie1972 17-08-2010, 06:38:27 Looking really good mate, you need to try and centre your exhaust within the spaces. Once you get those springs fitted it will be looking great :)
Stiggy 17-08-2010, 22:43:14 Yeah looking realy nice, i have a 1.6 megane cc that has had the RS treatment. Its great low insurance for my age but looks the dogs. Well done:-D
ads225cup 18-08-2010, 08:38:49 lowering and rear spolier and that the job done???!!!
hows much did the bumpers and exhaust cost?
brooxy10985 22-08-2010, 13:36:32 like the colour
Bradders 22-08-2010, 14:55:53 Looks good but i'm not a fan of making a car look like something it isnt. Is it your first car?
Stevie 22-08-2010, 20:17:14 Looks good but i'm not a fan of making a car look like something it isnt. Is it your first car?
Yet again each to their own talking about making something look like it isnt hey 3rad

Thats a license plate mate, its completly different.
Compare it to this, say someone in a saxo comes up against any replica and batters it off it starts of a rep of how **** the cars are, the old MR2 for example, you can make a ferrari replica but its still only a toyota.
I didnt slate the car i just said i dont see the point in replica's
Stevie 22-08-2010, 22:29:58 As i said bro each to thier own
ive got a replica i dont race people no point (you did see the thread about the street racer that got killed)
as for the license plate being completly different Nope its just trying to look like something its not
sounds the same to me mate
plus one is a legal requirement and the other is a mod
anyway
steve

Yeah i did and i dont race around like some people do. As for the licence plate its a 3 i havnt modified it to look like a B or spaced it illegally like most people do. But as far as it goes i'd rather pay £450 quid for a plate then spend ££££'s on making a replica.
Stevie 23-08-2010, 21:42:03 Ok Ok we are going no where here so the plates not as your picture then
because that would be spaced illegally ??
take care buddy each to their own without it being illegal
stevie
tallpaul 23-08-2010, 22:31:35 nice colour
Graeme 23-08-2010, 22:46:28 Sorry but it looks silly at the moment. The way to redemption can only be coilovers and you defo need to to get spacers behind the wheels to increase the track. I really don't think springs will lower it enough considering the 17s look very small in the arches anyway. If you lower it lots you may pull it off.
+1 for not a fan of replicas. Fair play for doing all the work, but the phrase "each to their own" doesn't stop it being pointless i'm afraid. Do what you have to do, but when the time comes that you have a better car you WILL question why you spent all this money.
For me, your next step has to be coilovers - save up for them if you have to. Good luck with it anyway.
And PLEASE delete the fat ass badge.
tallpaul 23-08-2010, 23:19:40 a replica is no different to putting any other body kit on. it's not like the car is badged up as a RS 225
Stevie 24-08-2010, 17:19:29 I always thought meganesport welcomed all megane owners from standard to replicas to the real thing
I have always felt welcomed at meets even if i have a replica and i have made some good mates on here
we all mod are cars in different ways even people with 225's and R26's spend a fortune on their cars and they will
never get that money back this could be seen as pointless but who cares if your happy with your car who cares what other people think
so yet again each to their own

Correct Stevie me old chestnut!
Each to their own indeed. I'd count many of the mods i've done to my R26 as 'pointless' if we're looking at things from a purely financial return aspect.
Thankfully i tend not to think so painfully two dimensionally, and also add enjoyment of ownership, enjoyment of tinkering with my cars and pride in whatever vehicle you can afford, in to the melting pot when making my car modification decisions.
As said earlier though, suspension and wheel spacers next i feel. :)

jamiecrookston83 26-08-2010, 15:36:14 When I was 18 . (long tme ago) if I had a megane 225 rep. I'd be over the moon. Good effort lad! Start your way from the bottom and work your way up. It pays off in the end. And come a point you'll be able to afford a r26 or whatever..

ads225cup 26-08-2010, 16:01:37 that mate is a very good effort!
nathan 225 replica 26-08-2010, 16:11:01 that mate is a very good effort!
thanks matey
snapper25 26-08-2010, 16:47:06 Looks great and at least you will have a unique colour that no one else has :). Although if I'm honest it still looks to high, soz if i'm nit picking mate!!
jamiecrookston83 26-08-2010, 16:59:00 Looks fantastic. Well done mate
bluediamond 26-08-2010, 17:20:56 Cracking for your first car mate! I had to make do with a 1.3 metro lol
Bradders 26-08-2010, 18:57:35 Cracking for your first car mate! I had to make do with a 1.3 metro lol
Epic, mine was a 1.1L with a Gti lump haha
bluediamond 26-08-2010, 19:10:10 Lol mine was a G reg 'advantage' with factory mg turbo kit Haha ;)
mustdash 26-08-2010, 20:09:24 Im in two minds with this to be honest.
On the one hand, yes, it looks pretty good, and its clear you've put a lot of effort, time and money into it, and you have to be applauded for not going over the top with the 'go faster stripes' rubbish that most 18 year olds go for. On the other hand though, wouldnt the money you've spent on it have been better used on a deposit / insurance on a real 225? Personally, I've never seen the point of massive cosmetic changes to cars, but, this is one of the more tastefully done ones!!
And to those that have mentioned others here mod their cars and have whinged about people expressing their opinions, positive or negative - yes, I've modded mine - but I mod mine to maximise the performance, not to look like something it aint! But, as has been said, each to their own!
hot-hatch-dan 26-08-2010, 21:49:50 I like it mate, looks spot on
Banksy 26-08-2010, 22:38:10 Compare it to this, say someone in a saxo comes up against any replica and batters it off it starts of a rep of how **** the cars are, the old MR2 for example, you can make a ferrari replica but its still only a toyota.
I still have a my Saxo VTS, wicked little car off the line. It would beat every Megane off the line to 60, except the 225's and upwards.
Nice car Nathan, looks really good. I like the more plain, stealthy look, looks tidy.
Bradders 27-08-2010, 18:20:10 except the 225's and upwards.
Exactly my point with it being a rep most people would think a 225 got shat all over. I know to one VTS that beats a standard Meggy 225/R26.
Were just going round in circles tho lol. Personally if i were that age again and all i could insure was the sporthatch i'd have been different and put a bodykit on it not make it look like something it isnt. This is purely my opinion and fair play to the lad for doing what he wants to do, the car does look nice, and its a rare colour. Just needs lowering and some spacers and would look wicked.
I've been there and done it myself i spent ££££'s on a 1.2 Clio which i converted to an F7P turbo running silly bhp, torque steer made you smile all the time and people faces when it just flew away was epic.
I even left the 1.2 badges on the door just to be edge :P
Rockinstig 27-08-2010, 20:24:04 there's a lot worse things a 18 year old could be up to - well done and each to their own.
mattler 27-08-2010, 20:39:20 I think it look s spot on! Perhaps a tad lower but generally spot on!
I dont think there is anything wrong with what he has done. Just like the multitude of middleaged guys who buy DB9`s and never realise the true potential of them, its just another variation of car enthusiasm.
If for example he had saved his dosh from the car + mods and bought a 225 then spent stupid money on insurance, at that end of the market he would probably be constantly chasing maintenance bills which he now couldn`t afford due to blowing everything on a real 225 and insurance!!
I think he`s done pretty well TBH
gttjames 28-08-2010, 01:16:52 good work mate, much better than bolting on some crappy bodykit that most 17/18 would do, i know i did lol! But youv done well
nathan 225 replica 28-08-2010, 19:17:29 thanks for your comments guys i can understand what people are saying but i wanted to be diffrent than all the normal 18 year olds with the corsas and the puntos and so on i did not want to chav it up and make it look crap like you say with big body kits and bolt on spoilers thats why i did the replica like a few of you have said its each to there own a lot of people like my car and to be honest i dont race around in it its my pride and joy and dont want to wreck it
mattler 28-08-2010, 19:28:41 Keep up the good work mate!
My only boggle would be if you are not intending on keeping the car that long as you definately wont get any cash back from all you have spent. Even a heavily modded 225 wont sell for more, it will probably just sell quicker for the same money.
Banksy 28-08-2010, 21:20:56 I even left the 1.2 badges on the door just to be edge :P
LOL :laughing2:
anish69 11-09-2010, 14:31:19 hi mate car looks awesome... how much did you pay for the twin exhaust ? and was it much hassle changing it from a single to a double exhaust?
Matty 11-09-2010, 16:13:20 Looks good that, my first megane was that colour and its still my favourite colour for a meg bar steel grey
Pdlk24 14-12-2010, 20:14:59 Just to add i think the car looks great and insurance on a 225 would be??? for 18 year old! My 17 year old nephew has just paid 6K first time insurance
for a fiat punto 1108cc which he only paid £400.
All the mods are tastefully done and well fitted so who's cares.
If you like it so what...
I wish that was my first car.. and not mk1 Ford escort with furry dice and dixie horn lol got pics to prove it...
Warren 03-11-2011, 21:31:25 Looks good to me! I'm basically doing the same myself but on a black 1.6 VVT. Bought it a few weeks ago, can't afford insurance on a proper 225 so why not make a replica huh!?
Warren 19-12-2011, 12:56:59 It's definately cheaper to do it this way.
I'm in the same boat, i'd have loved a 225 but at the cost of the car +3-4k a year insurance, a Replica till i'm 25 will do me nicely.
Fantastic Job, If you still check the forums could you let me know about your exahust! Whether it's a custom made or what as i'm currently looking myself.
Daz Fountain 19-12-2011, 17:12:57 looks spot on that mate
Jacob 19-12-2011, 18:21:51 Well done mate.
People have different opinions to things like that and in my eyes you've done a brilliant job. A lad I wok with is 20 and he told me today his insurance on a 1.6vtr saxo is 2k and that's ridiculous.
Good work and hopefully you'll be a 225 owner soon.
Jacob
snapper25 20-12-2011, 16:04:11 The cost of insurance for young people is ridiculous so i don't think there is anything wrong with a rep.
Stiggy 21-12-2011, 19:43:52 Nothing wrong with a replica. People always will have mixed views on it tho. Iv got a meg cc with full RS kit, some people ask me why i didnt just buy an RS, but they never even made a CC RS lol
Pdlk24 23-12-2011, 09:13:57 I think you done a cracking job!!!
Good effort and it looks the nuts for a rep......
If you could centre the exit pipe's somehow i would of given you 10/10!
A spoiler wouldn't go a miss..... Anyway well done m8
