Hi All,
Like fewie, thought I'd better introduce myself properly as I've been posting since Sunday and have now become an official Club Member!
I am also from Hull and drive a Phase 1 blue 225 FF (Euro 4) with optional rear lateral airbags which I have had from new last November (55 reg). I work in Hull and have a small daily commute and so have a 06-reg Ford Ka which I use as a run around - they really are nippy at lower speeds and handle fab. The family car is an 05-reg 2.0 litre Laguna.
As I said in my first post, this is one of the best car forums I've come across. I have been viewing it for a couple of months now and thought it was about time I joined properly!
PS. Can't wait to meet Bubbles!

rear lateral airbags were a £250 option when I bought my 1st 225 FF. Pretty sure they are low level on either side of the back seats for protection from a side impact :? Of course could be talking complete bollox and they deploy from the rear headlining

Yes, as Doc883 has said, the rear lateral airbags were a £250 option on the Phase 1 225. I purchased them for the safety aspects, having got two kids - didn't seem fair that only us adults in the front had lateral protection! Again as Doc 883 has said, the airbags are deployed from a low level at either side of the rear seats - they don't deploy from the seats themselves (as in the front), but from the plastic at the side of the rear seats that you can see when you open the rear doors. It is labelled as an airbag on this plastic, but it isn't obvious.
mnnnt - The AIRBAG logos that you see quite high in our cars are there in relation to the curtain airbags that run the length of the car on both sides to protect passenger's heads in the event of an impact.
(I believe that RECARO seats don't even have the front lateral airbags)
