nick3814 29-07-2011, 20:05:54 Surprised there's not a thread on here already...
I'm really ****ed off to say the least......:censored:
I love what BBC has done with my favourite sport, the coverage, red button, forum are excellent. Sky are just 5hite...
I have the basic Sky package but won't be paying for the
sports ......
Paddy 29-07-2011, 20:10:06 Yea... Wasn't impressed the coverage was top notch.
As to going to sky not fussed... I have a dreambox HD so dont pay a subscription ;)
Artic Monkey 29-07-2011, 20:10:13 I'll be watching half the racing next year.
nickbrown_500 29-07-2011, 20:14:43 im not paying rip off sky, so looks like I will only be watching half the racing next year. Im guessing it will slowly decline untill sky is the only channel broadcasting F1
dr eight 29-07-2011, 20:16:59 Wot f**ks me off is they keep BBC3??? and get rid of one of the only things i love on the BBC.

jonny157 29-07-2011, 20:27:09 ^^^ what frizz said ! Dream box ?
As for BBC going to sky, totally agree with the above. They reckon it's going to get 'a full sky make over' !!! WTF ?!?!
Paddy 29-07-2011, 20:30:42 whats this dream box you speak of?
Lets just say its an alternative way to recieve sky. A different box for a start.

Well worth the effort.... ;)
dr eight 29-07-2011, 20:44:08 Not got time to watch cartoons every night mate.... Id rather have F1 on a weekend
nick3814 29-07-2011, 21:08:43 http://thef1times.com/news/display/04111
Looks like Whitmarsh carries some weight at least. All races to be shown in full on BBC but 10 live and 10 delayed, better than first published I suppose.

still not the point its one of those sports that has always been shown for free dont see why it should change in the slightest

Don't get me wrong mate, it stinks, its 5hit without a doubt, just trying to look for the positives as it all starts to sink in....

your right any is better than none but it just seems like another step towards sky taking over the world
StevenC 30-07-2011, 07:37:15 Sky will need to make a huge effort that's for sure. Remember, WHen f1 was on sky before, sky were the first to go in to pit garages etc if anyone can at least throw money at trying new things, its the Murdochs.
minchy 30-07-2011, 08:11:53 I agree with all the comments, it's discusting that f1 is going to sky. It'll not be long before sky has the full rights to charge us all full subscription, I have sky hd but I refuse to pay for the sports when the only sport o love is motorsport. It's a god damn shame is all I say, it's gone from a totally free channel to BBC now the bloody sky lovers get.
Well I think al just wait for the rest to be shown on normal tv.
Rant ova!
Rockinstig 31-07-2011, 11:52:28 Same as all you lot...BBC coverage is the best there's been so far. It's as is everything else down to money. The bbc been told it needs to make big cuts so what better than to trim the edges of a £40 million package...
Regarding BBC 3 comment earlier.....it's a fantastic channel...I'd get rid of BBC1(have you all seen what they classify as entertainment on a Saturday night)
Salty 05-08-2011, 23:12:14 http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/57
here we go let's have a laugh and see if they do anything about this. probably one of the more worthy petitions still on there along with fuel price obviously.
StevenC 05-08-2011, 23:16:21 I read today that the BBC decided it needed to spend less as it grossly overspent since acquiring the rights back from ITV. They were given first refusal of the rights. That wouldn't happen in any other sport.

Just been offered an 8000HD, what do you think to yours? I have a 1m motorised already that i dont really use so might be tempted with a bit of cs :)
madmax 10-08-2011, 18:29:06 do you need a motorised dish or is the standard mini dish ok?

Paddy 10-08-2011, 19:46:11 Yea I love my DB. One of the best bits of kit under the telly. For obvious reasons! If you get one and set it up 'correctly' you wont be disapointed.
As to dishs ....
A standard dish is fine, you can just point it 28degs east at the Astra satellites. This is the one that covers the UK for SLY tv. (where 99.9% of house dishs point)
A motorised dish will allow you to pan the sky above for other satellites that cover other countries. Some very interesting signals can be found doing this.
theclarkster 06-01-2012, 20:42:37 Probably very late joining the discussion, but, as there are few F1 fans in work, this has been knocking around my small little head for a while now...
It's based on something that the poison dwarf said to justify the move to Sky...
I can't quote it, but he said that it would be good for F1 as it would bring more viewers...
Now, correct me if my logic is wrong.. but...
Some have BBC but not Sky and they watch F1
Some have Sky + Sky Sports and BBC and they watch F1 (BBC coverage)
Some have Sky + Sky Sports and BBC but don't care for F1
So if you remove the free coverage of F1, how many of those people who like F1 but don't have Sky are going to sign up for Sky and Sky Sports just to watch F1?
If you had Sky already (as you love football) but never watched F1 when it was on BBC as you don't care for it, why would you watch it on Sky?
The BBC coverage was also streamed live through the BBC iPlayer... all around the world (where there was an internet connection)...
How many viewers are they going to gain (with new Sky customers) against those they will lose??
May be I'm just not as intelligent as Bernard 'Bank Busting' Ecclestone...
And why did the BBC agree to pay a stupid amount of money for the contract (with tax payers money)!! and then do a deal with Sky where a good proportion of the F1 viewing tax payers don't have satellite!!.. Why not do a deal with ITV or Ch4?????????? F@ckers (Moderators: is that aloud? I'm Sorry if not)....
The sport will go the same way as the WRC... how long did it take me to find out who won this year!!!
At least the BTCC had it sorted on ITV... ALL DAY COVERAGE... bloody marvellous (Even if Jason Plato's whining about not having a turbo did get a little tiresome)...
There... rant over...
