Or even mildly damp. Surely thats points if you get caught on the road.

Yes, per illegal tyre.

Yes, per illegal tyre.
Indeed and besides the aquaplaning :sweatdrop: was the other thing I was bricking it about.
Tried to get some tyres in France but couldn't locate any without a major detour.
I wasn't about to spend £500 on a set of "road" tyres just to get me home that I would never use again.
Luckily I got away with it :yes[1]:

And didn't kill yourself or anyone else? (Ok I'll get off my high horse)
Seriously though, PPPPP would help stop future instances.

Yes yes yes I know and trust me I didn't intend to do it nor take it lightly, I was very careful and followed lorries most of the time as they hoovered up the worst :yes[1]:
I honestly thought they would be fine when I left but two extra factors made things a lot worse:
1) I had no idea how twisty Dijon Prenois is, lots of front tyre wear
2) most importantly, I was not expecting the 35C air temperatures (neither was anyone else), what the track temperatures were I can only guess and these were the soft compound R888's so they just fell apart.
Hohum.
Lesson learned :yes[1]:

How many days did you get out of those Alan? I seem to get 3 full track days out of my 888 (med compound)

These were the soft compound and I would normally expect 3 UK days, dependent on circuit and conditions.
The tyres in question had done 1.5hrs maximum at BHGP ( not particularly tough on fronts) and I checked them in great detail before I left.
I expected them to last the trip.
If I had known the track conditions/temperatures involved in hindsight I would probably have gone for the Yoko A048 medium compound :yes[1]:
Wonderful thing hindsight :laughing2:
