: New car suggestions
mattyw 14-10-2011, 20:34:11 Due to a change in circumstances im contemplating a new car
Im toying with some ideas but currently i need the following criteria
- £15k tops ideally, maybe up a few k if worthwhile
- sub 7 sec 0-60 std, non modified
- post 2005 manufacture
- 25mpg+
- mod cons like cruise/air con/climate and either recaros or full leather
- insurance not really that much of an issue, not mad though
I have some ideas but want to see what everyone else says....
snapper25 14-10-2011, 20:46:25 Get a250
Plenty to pick from there then. :) I'm looking at the same sort spec.
335i, 135i, RS250, 330d
Jay Kay 14-10-2011, 21:59:08 350z, s2000, boxter s
Budgiestongue 14-10-2011, 22:19:06 I would go for either a subaru sti, evo 9 or a nice audi s3 facelift 265bhp standard.
Salty 14-10-2011, 22:58:39 350z if you have some give in the mpg
Stiggy 15-10-2011, 01:11:19 350z or a scooby
a16pse 15-10-2011, 07:08:51 Leon k1 loads with 380 bhp and that would put most things to shame, got 5 doors, good on fuel and look the dogs in White with black rims and carbon wrap roof
poobah 15-10-2011, 07:41:44 For that budget, if there's no limiting factor in terms of what end it drives from then i'd be looking at Z4M Coupe for that money. Proper car.
jaybyme 15-10-2011, 08:06:45 2 seater or 4 ?
Carl P 15-10-2011, 08:52:57 Golf R32 ?
kingdom200 15-10-2011, 10:34:57 mk2 focus rs's going for not much more atm
mattyw 15-10-2011, 11:35:07 Im looking at new shape scooby sti, new shape s3 or stretching for a nice 135i
Will only be an evening weekend car but ideally some bootspace would be good if i needed to do some shopping...
snapper25 15-10-2011, 18:17:28 I really feel sorry for you. What a decision to have to make :)

Your choices don't offer anything more than your current R26 provides on the excitment or desirability stakes.
I mean..... the new shape Sti is the just a new shape turd.
For a weekend car why don't you push the boat out?
mattyw 15-10-2011, 18:58:57 Any suggestions? Im thinking build quality and comfort with speed or raw power with the scooby with awesome handling
I looked into lotus' but the gf dislikes them/their interiors etc

Well for a bit more fun and exclusivity why not go as suggested for a 2 seater? 350Z (good choice), early Cayman 2.7, Boxster S, Z4(M).
More space? A style punt on an Alfa or get a BMW M3 and a set of Oakleys.
I would go for a Meg 250 over the Sti, S3 or 135i. They are just a touch boring. Not going to give you a weekend stiffy.
Salty 15-10-2011, 20:37:25 my old man has just brought a 350z gt 58 plate 15000 miles fsh £15000. plenty of power and sounds awesome. really nice weekend car and you can even squeeze a few asda bags in.
yetijohn 15-10-2011, 21:11:01 Im a 350z fan myself. They sound awesome, look good, handle good & are reliable. You can pick a 54,55 plate up for around 7k which given their credentials is pretty dam good.
andrewjeffs 16-10-2011, 19:42:06 The most modern car and one of the quickest point to point is going to be the 250 with respectable room and milage.
If you want all out point to point then nothing will touch a evo9.
Shockingly fast, would run rings round any impreza bar the jap import spec c,plenty of room, decent brakes and gearbox.
Downside....MPG and running costs.
If i could afford to run the thing,i wouldnt have anything else.
