ok my fello 225 owners, here is a question for you,

im running a K&N panel filter.
as most of you know im running the larger intercooler now and soon will be the re-map from RS-TUNING (paul) along with the zorst modifications and soon de-cat for some bigger bhp gains.

my question to you all is:

1.Should i keep the standard airbox with the K&N panel filter in
2.change the panel filter to another brand ie. ITG, GREEN or other.
3.run the standard panel filter in the air box
4.fit an induction kit.

all i want is for the car to run at its best so if you think running an induction kit will be better for better air flow and will help with the extra bhp please let me konw,
or if you think running the standard air box with the extra power will be fine with an upgraded panel filter also please let me know.

not sure wat to do on this one so you views and comments would be cool.

get the BBPT Green induction kit, run the custom feed to it. create a heat sheild on one side so the sound is still there but you dont drag hot air in from the engine

that without a remap even ! 8)

i think the exhaust is just a revised back box section, so main gains are from induction. of course on their RR`d they would have the blowers in fron on the car with the bonnet open, hence why you should make a custom semi heat shield for it.
alternativley Kteck sell the full enclosed Viperx induction kit for the 225 but th sound wont be as loud as bbpt`s and its more expensive also.. but potencaily has better gains if only on warm days due to it being sealed.

go for induction, panel filters give a tiny bit more noise and flow and in some cars make a real difference but not so much as a custom feed + keep the original feed also (which you cant do on the viperx due to it being closed and only running one direct feed)

anyways have a look at the BBPT one.

I'd love a viper but they are soooo expensive for what they are.

I would definately get a sealed kit as the noise you get from an open kit will drive you insane

John you can buy one similar in Halfrauds, a shielded filter with a long hose think its around 40-60 quid
might be worth a look next time you pass by

I've found another on ebay same setup as the viper with cold air feed, asked him about a price for 5 he has them on ebay for 60 quid so we'll see what he says, got to be better than forking out 250 quid for a viper

What is the diameter of the pipe connecting to the airbox?

mine follows the standard renault feed to the front ktec fitted mine so just saw the final product :D

so my guess is that its a bumper off job then

na dont think so well not on mine ktec didnt take mine off, depends if you want it to come to the front grill like andy's then its a bumper off job, didnt want mine down ther as thought it might suck up leaves and other crap etc

Im considering taking the back box outta mine and Maybe considering a remap. Remap wont be for a couple of months though.

you gain a little more bhp get a little bit more sound (depending on what you go for ) will suck up more cold air, viper is expensive for what it is

sounds real nice and nice grunt sound clip gives you a rough idea what its like loud like andys in the flesh but he might have the edge :D

yours has a deeper tone when idling but andy's when he was accellerating hard was pretty.......shall we say aggressive.

i have bought from this guy b4 and is very good, the silver hose/pipe is also very good quality thats wat iv got on mine now at the front,

keep me posted on costs etc as for the money think this might be my best option for an induction kit while keeping the noise to a minimum

Jon that looks ok but do you know how long it is? The pics of Craigs viper look like they have cut the renault inlet pipe a bit to get it in straight. Also is the filter suitable for turbo cars? The inlet pipe inside diameter is a piffling 65mm, measured mine today.

dont forget that rubber inlet for the air intake moves back a good 10 cms, I had to move it back for the normal pipercross I had, that filter I think would go in at a 45 degree angle as the standard airbox is huge and leaves a lot of room with the rubber bit pushed to the left a bit, I might be able to bob over and get one this weekend so I'll let you all know if it fits!

i looked at one today it was 6"and half inches long and with a push it will fit in verticle as like you say the gap is huge but horizontal there is no chance
