: a good tow car?

does anyone on here have any experiences of towing a caravan? looking into a good tow car, something that looks wicked, goes well and wouldn't struggle with a small to medium sized caravan... the meg 225 has a towing weight maximum of 1000kg. which is fine for what i want, but im sure it would drink the juice even more, and would surely put extra strain on the engine, but if i was to swap it would cost me **** loads of money at first, and to be honest, i haven't got it spare as its kinda tied up. any suggestions on what to do?

thanks peeps.

Am i right in thinking that you can't fit a towbar to a 225 anyway due to not having a metal floor under the boot?

If your looking to tow something i'd probably just look at a 2ltr and upwards diesel. Lots of tourque for pulling sh*t.

The last edition of Evo had one of these in as a 'under 10k hero', i reckon it'd pull a caravan no problem.:D

Book yourself into a hotel or buy a tent. Caravans are just annoying, what do you do with them for the 50 weeks when you are not on holiday?

Can I start a riot by saying caravans probably fit into most peoples top 5 of things they would not like to be stuck behind on the road?

:)What about a phase one Skoda Octavia Vrs?

These things are pretty cheap to buy with VAG reliability, there quite a good looking car with an engine with plenty of potential.:)

that audi would probably pull a house down, and im sure its not fuel efficient. the 225 can be fitted with a towbar... :)

Go for a turbo diesel of some sort mate, great for towing, but all depends on how much you plan on towing as you could get a cheap jeep that would be perfect for towing.
