Hi guys, new here and have a few questions hoping you can help.
Basically im considering getting rid of my vxr and getting a Meg'. No problems with my car, it's great, had no problems, cannot fault it and it does really shift, but starting to think i may want something a bit more subtle but similar in terms of performance.
There seems so many variants, 225, cup, F this and F that! What's the best overall in terms of performance and kit against price?
Is there certain things that are a must have or things to definetely give a miss?
What sort of price should I expect to pay at my dealers for one?
Keep hearing about reliability issues and other common problems, is it that bad?
Any advice or pointers would be most appreciated guys, looking forward to joining you............................................... .........................maybe!

right FF means full fat megane which is a megane 225 without the cup pack fitted
a cup pack megane 225 is the same car but with anthro wheels, drilled discs, cup chassis, lower suspension, wider wheels, + a few extras and for £500 its well worth having,

now the new R26 is the same as above but you loose alot of the goodies like leather , arm rests but you gain the LSD gear box but thats only a great option if you going to track it alot IMO.

now you can pay up to 20k for a cup megane or a R26 from a dealer or as low as 18.5k if you shop about,

now if you go to adrian and have a chat with him at buymynewcar he will sell you for under15.5k for the same car.

i still dont know off anyonr posting on here that there car has broken down on them, silly things like faulty coils or the injecter here and there but no more tahn wat you would on any other car.

they not as modbable as a VXR in my eyes but as alot of peeps know on here mine has bin well played with and still seems to be the bench mark for 263 bhp and 270ftlb of torque,
its got a larger cooler fitted
filter
map forge bits and bobs
zorst
and is running like a train

so its a great car to go to from a VXR if you ask me,

a great option to go for would be a megane cup pack 225,

Have read a few posts about dealers discounting heavily down to 14k-15k, is that not the case then?

not to sure on that one, i dont know of anyone getting one from the dealer for 14k for a new P2 shape one weather it be a cup or r26, i know they can get you an import now so not to sure,
im not going to say no as i may be wrong.

but BMNC is a very good line to go down and will highly recomend him to go to,

also one other thing you got any pics of you VXR and how old and wat price you looking for it if you were to sell.

or ya can get an f1, which has all them features as standard, and looks class!

I'll get some pictures up over the weekend. It's Arden Blue, with 19's, 2005/55 and done 14.5k. Been driven sensibly, I'm no boy racer, so it's got an avg fuel consumption from new of 31.0mpg which is pretty good. Would expect to get £14k+ for it.
Think I need to get myself a test drive in a 225.
Talking fuel consumption, what are you guys getting?

Im going to pop into local dealer shortly to take a look around and try an organise a test drive.
Im near Brighton in East Sussex.

Dealer had no 225's in for a test drive and reckons they very rarely do as there built to order!
Saying that, he has a black F26 coming in on Friday as a demo that I may take a look at, although he said they won't let you take it above 60mph.
Said I really need a test drive in one to compare to my vxr before buying but he didn't seem the keenest sales rep I've come across!
Went to another dealer and they had a 225 in the showroom which I had a sit in and I thought the leather seats were very nice and smelt great!
Im really warming to this car, really liking the look, just hope the drive doesn't disappoint.
