Right, has anyone been lucky enough to own or have a drive of these Lotus 7 type kit cars.
I've always loved these and now that i'm getting older and balder i'm thinking about getting one, this year or maybe next at the latest.
Anyway, i know there are some not so good companys out there that make these kits, and to be honest Caterhams are out of my price range.
I'm looking to spend £5-6000 so i think a Westfield is going to be the one to look for.
I know that they use ancient engines and technology but that aint a bad thing because i'm not too clued up in the engine department and to be honest i was thinking that this would give me a brilliant opportunity to get clued up.

If anyone could give me any advice and info i would appreciate it.

alright mint blue, we got a 1600cc xr2i engined westfield that my dad and i built its got 125bhp and its driving it is a lot of fun. in summer driving round some country lanes is just about the best sort of pure driving sensation i could imagine, but ours tends to just sit there doing nothing for most of the year, you cant really park them anywhere busy and they are not much fun in the rain, altho you do get a pcv roof and 2 heaters in there :) if you can put up with the fact that most the time its not getting used, i would start with the 1600cc or you should be able to get a slightly less noisy and less problematic ford 1.8 vetec engined one for your sort of budget. but there are loads of diff engines available and now loads of screaming motorbike engine ones, It depends how mental you are in your quest for speed. you can always upgrade tho so dont feel like you have to jump into the deep end and scare yourself silly, but for me my fave is the rover v8 just for the noise. they are absolute beasts!!! Also they have a very good car club that organizes regular track days you can take it on to get the most out of it and the club is a good place to start looking for westfields for sale. give us a shout if u want anymore info.
