Hi,

Has anyone had this come up on their car???? :?:

Its done it on mine a couple of times over the last couple of days on the motorway and sends the car into LIMP mode (will only allow speeds of 65mph & runs Lumpy)........ :( :x

Could it be the damp weather????

Any Ideas?????

I had this when i first got the car.....Check all of the hoses in the engine bay. If all looks ok then get the AA out using your renault assistance. :)

I think ive heard of it happening once before. Not sure what the problem was though. Get it to a dealer to get it checked out f its going into limp mode.

It could possibly be your DV mate. Which valve is it? Is it atmospheric?

Can you take them off?

Paul / Dave,

Dump Valve is a K-Tec one - Its been on the car for about 6 months with no problems up till now.

I could take the Induction Kit off - but its a pain in the arse having to take all the battery and box out etc.

Can't really take the dump valve off as I've had to cut into one of the standard pipes to fit it.

To be honest mate, ive take my car with the pipercross induction kit and k tec dump valve to two seperate dealers with no problems at all. Is there two dealers near you? Take it to one and if they say something take it off and take it to the other dealer.

I've taken my car into the dealer already with the DV and Ind kit on also...... but, that was for sqeeky seats and sqeeky pedals etc... Nothing to do with the engine.

I am abit worried that they will void my warranty or something if its something serious.

I can't imagine it being anything serious. I can't see your i/k and d/v having any effect on the problem.

i had it happen to mine again this morning, only happens when i got remap on????, been told it might be a hose pushin because of more boost, i got the same dump valve but ran it without and still got same problem. gonna try the tie wrap trick

Does it only come up with an error when wet and rainy??

What tie wrap trick??

Have you had it into the dealers??

always happens when i have remap, not had into dealers cos i though it a remap related probelm. been told to tie wrap the boost sensor, if u fitted dump valve and taken it out to fit easier you might have broken a few clips that hold it in. try that if not take it in to reno

Does it happen only when you are on the motorway ?

I have the same prob on all the reno RS's I have tried to chip in SA.

I hope you find a solution - it will help me a stack !

Cheers

I had the same thing happen to mine when it was 2 months old. It only happened when the weather was cold. I did some checking up before I took it into the dealers as I have access to Renault Technical Information. Here is the relevant infomation about that fault:

" In the event of an injection fault (severity 1)
The "Injection to be checked" written message is
displayed followed by the "service" warning light
coming on. It indicates a reduced level of operation
and a limited safety level. The driver should carry out
repairs as soon as possible.
These faults are linked to:
– the motorised throttle valve,
– the accelerator pedal potentiometer,
– the inlet pressure sensor signal,
– the computer,
– the actuator supply voltage,
– the computer supply voltage. "

The fault indicates that your engine management is having a problem controlling the throttle valve (and not the fuel injection as you might assume!). This is due to one of 4 components: the throttle valve itself, the accelerator pedal position sensor, the inlet pressure sensor (the engne has both a MAP sensor and a boost pressure sensor - I'm not sure which one it is refering to) or the ECM.

Renault changed the throttle valve assembly which has sort of fixed the problem - it is still jerky when cold but doesn't go into limp home mode.

Had the same thing here in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Renault said something about the car being setup for Europe and the air pressure/richness is different here. Took mine in and they upgraded the software using a CD. Never got that fault again. According to the salesman at Renault here, every 225 he's sold here in JHB has needed this upgrade.
Hopes this helps...

I had this fault on mine when I snapped the throttle sensor thing putting the dump valve one, I took it to renault and they did this altitude update on mine. The remap incorporates the altitude update too. I've had it very occasionally on mine, always when the weather is very cold and damp as other people have said it does it on mine with the remap on or off, havent really found a variable that stops it happening. You can feel on mine when its going to do it as the engine seems to run a bit rough and slightly less responsive. I think the fault comes from the throttle body sensor I rekon it needs to be airtight but the way the clip is it doesnt seal properly

Thanks Guys for all the info.

The car is going into the dealers on Thursday for them to have a look at it.

I'll let you know what they say.

Devan,

Yes, it has only come up with the error while on the Motorway.

Hi,

Try to disable the boost sensor and see what happens.

1) Remove cover
2) follow vacumn pipe 15 cm from throttle body to a cylinder type sensor and remove the plug.

Let us know what happens.

I get a similar message, running stg 1 map and dv, never happened before but done both at same time.

Boost leak at your DV or piping around there FTW!!!

I had exactly this when I fitted a new Forge hose where your DV is - the boost was more direct on the little vac hose inlet and it virtually blew it out of the inlet manifold! so i used cable ties - this could be the 'tie wrap trick' mentioned above. I cable-tied the MAF sensor as well, further along the inlet manifold. Pic below. I limped home, checked the hoses, sorted it with the cable ties and all the lights went out - np.

Just had this warning on the way to work this morning. Was stuck in a jam for about an hour when it all of a sudden came on. Once I got going again I stopped restarted the engine and the light went out and stayed out.. .reckon it had anything to do with the car creeping along at about 1mph for an eternity...?
