jasdigido 15-02-2006, 18:34:15 Topper imo and most people i know in the industry rate the Pioneer plasmas above everything else availble. Just make sure its Hd ready so you can plug in your blue ray hd dvd player or sky hd box of even your existing dvd player with the HDMI connector if it has one.
I know quite a bit about the av market as i install home cinema systems in my spare time.
Or better still get a hd projector if you have the room. Picture quality from the pioneer plasma will blow you away so would the picture of an hd projector.
If you go to sound and vision in farnworth bolton they have a pioneer plasma hooked up to a european hd (swedish sat system ) service your eyes should pop out of your head
Heres a link to their site they are often cheaper than most places too speak to Chris Booth the manager he will give you the best price.

Topper225 15-02-2006, 18:46:32 That is a nice unit very nice i will have a look there and check them out ...
The problem i have is that it will need to be on the otherside of the room and i don't think my cables for the Sky+ will reach , do you know if it is ok to lengthen them using connectors ...
jasdigido 15-02-2006, 19:00:38 You should connect you sky+ box via scart so make a measurement of the distance from the two and buy a longer scart lead or relocate you box some how ? Dont buy a cheap long scart buy good quality scart but these can be expensive so it may be cheaper to relocate your box.
Also try these guys http://www.discounttv.co.uk/ they have a hitachi 42" plasma thats hd ready for £1620 +p&p or you could pick it up they are only up the road from you in colne near burnley.
cheers
Jas
Topper225 15-02-2006, 19:31:03 It is connected via scart but i am talking about the 2 LNB leads that come in through the wall near my bay window i would want to relocate my box on the opposite side of the room so can i lengthen those wires using connectors .. Cheers ..
jasdigido 15-02-2006, 19:48:08 Yes you can but it would be better to have the cables lengthend from the lnb its self. <easy job really !
As addtional joints in the cable length could or will more likely reduce signal strenth and picture quality and cause Interference

does that inc the media box that goes underneath.
i can get just the screen with out the media box for £1100 or £1400 with the box,
and also these screens do not come with spaekers, they are extra again.
andy bassett 15-02-2006, 22:48:41 like i said mines a LOEWE which is not a popular/well known but is quality.
its HD ready with HDMI on it, VGA ,DVI, 2 x scart ,2 x SVHS, antenna in, 2 x component in, camera mem card slots pretty much evey linkup you need.
also comes with built in speakers.
cost £1400 inc sony dvd recorder in sept last year.
shinyautos.com 15-02-2006, 22:52:29 I would have a Loewe over alot of makes andy, quality bits of kit!!
andrew 16-02-2006, 10:15:09 Dont plasmas only have a short lifespan before the gasses start to mix and then you loose picture quality, I heard they only last a couple of years and this is why if you got an extended guarantee it costs a fortune as the manufactures know that not a lot of them will make it to 5 years.
andy bassett 16-02-2006, 22:34:56   buy a new one
asmith225 19-02-2006, 06:24:18 My plasma is over 3 years old and still going strong. Unfortunately it'll be staying in the house when I have to sell up in a few weeks :( women I hate em
