Hi guys!

First post here and first renault so i'm a total noob!

Just wanted to see what you guys think of the megane and what you've all done to your girls?

I'm picking up my DCI 1.9 on Wednesday, looking at a few interior mods and new alloys. I'm also after some info on remapping, etc. as i'd like to get a bit more out of her.

Also, how easy are the front and rear black bumper sections to remove? My boss owns a body / paint shop so i'm looking at having them sprayed to match the rest of the car. I've noticed a few of you guys seem to have done this already and it wouldn't cost me more than £50.

I've noticed a few people sticking in Osram bulbs, what do you recomend and is it worth changing them?

Cheers in advance guys, i'm looking forward to becoming part of large backsided gentlemans club.

How you doing mate welcome to the club.

Paul is your man for the remap User : RSTuning he'll sort you out with a map. You'll also find some interior mods available in the Discounts section led replacement bulbs etc etc.

Osram bulbs are ok, but you'll never beat a set of Xenon HID's which are a simple fit job, so you could upgrade yours for not a lot of money.

I think the bumper trims would just be a case of pulling them off or prising them with a trim tool.

Join in with the club and hope to see you at some of the meets! ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

I've already PM'd paul @ RS about re mapping my new pride and joy, and after seeing the interior lights thread they are next on my to do list!

I've gone for an ottoman blue meg, do you think white or blue interior LED's will look best?

Any pics of your 1.9 DCI megs?

I did have one, same colour as yours, sold it for the 225. Id go for white in the front and blue in the back.

I do love the 225's, problem is i get unlimited free diesel with work so i'd be mad to get a petrol again!

I'm not sure on the idea of different front and back, im really taken by the all blue in the interior light thread. I'd like to pick up a theme and stick with it throughout.

Go for the new Megane Sport Diesel when it comes out in April.

Dont tempt me!

I never buy new cars anyway, prefer to get a good deal used. I chop and change every 12 to 18 months too so might give it a year and get the new diesel! Hopefully as a company car by then!

Just found a pic of Jimbo's old DCI and it looks the sex, defo want to match the trim like he has! Tints going on this friday, 18"s at the weekend, RS re map sometime in the next few weeks hopefully. Give it a few weeks driving then i'll pop the trim off and give it to the guys in my work to spray.

What sort of 0 - 60 have people got out of a re mapped 1.9 120 DCI?

I love the white interior leds, although blue is nearly tempting me to have a change, looks well smart!

Hello!! glad you like my old meggy. as you can see, it doesnt take too much to get them looking spot on!

the side strips just pop off, just be a bit careful with them. not too sure with the front and rear bumper ones tough, but i'd take a guess that they are on the same way.

at the French Car Show last year, my DCI ran a 7.8 to 60. there was alot of speculation over the accuracy of the timing equipment, so take it with a pinch of salt if you will. But a few 225 owners on here (Andy B, JamieMac, Alex, Davelee) will tell you that it did keep up well on duel carriage way/motorway runs. this was down to it being remapped. unfortunatly, it wasnt remapped by Paul as i had it done before i knew about this site, but if pauls remaps are as good as the one hes done on my clio, it'll be great on the DCI (obviously not using the same map, lol)!! mine ran with 146BHP and 343NM torque, not to be sniffed at by any means, a standard 225 runs with 300NM torque. I also had a Green Cotton replacement panel air filter on mine, it complimented the map quite nicely. I'd recommend fitting one of those or a ITG panel filter.

Even with it remapped, it still was returning MPG in the high fifies on long runs.

I had mine lowered 35mm on some Cobra springs. take note, dont use Cobra springs, they are crap. the coatings fall off them easily and they dont sit in the spring seats properly, so they made alot of noise under low speed turning.

If you're going to get it lowered, use some good quality springs such as Eibach.

(god all this reminising makes me miss mine more!!)

PS - Welcome to the site! :)
