i phoned up about this car today - http://www.fow.co.uk/2006/vehicledetail.asp?partnum=00044016&make=RENAULT&model=MEGANE&pricebracket=0&colour=0&page=8, i just wanted some more information about this car, one of my main concerns about this car is they said there were no stamps in the service book.

The car was first registered on 11/02/2005 and has done 18,160 miles, i understand that early 225's service intervals were 18,000 or 2 years, if the car had not had it's service interval changed on the dash, and obviously it needs a service and got one now, would the warranty remain intact?, or would Renault say it should have been done at 12k so tough luck.

It could have had a service and the book did not get stamped, will Ren UK be able to tell me if it has been serviced within the official Renault network?.

If it had been done at an independent then i will never know.

Thanks.

Thanks. The service interval for my car and mine is an 05 plate is 12000 or once a yr now and not 18000 it was changed by reno. If there is no service history the warrenty is void because it is in the term of ownership. Anyway if you are buying the car from them they should give you 12months warrenty.

I think if you take it to a stealer they won't know if its been serviced or not, so the warranty would still be valid. just don't take the log book in, i don't. Although mine is fully serviced.

Mark,
if the car has been serviced by a RUK authorised service centre this will be recorded, early 225's were at the 18K interval, I know I own one, but I also know that the details are recorded as if taken to an official SC they log the details in the RUK system to verify that the service can be done, I asked at my local dealers how much lee-way there was as working away I was unsure how close to the 18K I could get, between 1000-1500 miles below/over was the answer but it was authorised by RUK on-line. Hope this helps

dcp ive been told they don't have such a database (national) to check service intervals on cars, only ones within a franchise.

They certainly do at Arnold Clark. interweb connection to RUK, and they pressed a few buttons and it came back with an authorisation code to undertake the work, if I'd not been inside the lee-way the dude told me it would have rejected the request, so... I can only assume that they're using some sort of DB to capture this info:biggthumpup:

This car is no longer for sale at FOW but is now on the stock list at Available car.com at Castle Donnington, this morning at 04.00 it was up for £11,199 and now it is up for £10,999, why would this car be passed around between car supermarkets?.

I phoned Renault to see if it was a UK car but they could not give me a definite yes or no:bonkers:

I asked about the servicing schedule, raising concerns about the vehicle was just over 2 years old and had done 18,000 miles and appeared to have not been serviced, they said as long as the mileage does not exceed 60,000 miles in the three years then the warranty will remain intact.

I thought to keep the warranty intact you could not go anymore than 1 month or 1,000 miles over the service schedule date.

My instincts are telling me this car could be trouble and to stay clear.
