Ordered a 225 and am wondereing if I should have gone for the cup pack or not. Apart from the visual aspect of wheels and brembo brakes how much difference does it make to the car. NE1 driven the car with and without the cup option. and what are peeps impression of both

Cheers

Sorry Uncle can't comment on the cup pack as i've never tried it. IMO I would say that the full fat spec is certainly up to the job but may be lacking for fast road or track day use. Horses for courses really.

Without great motorway cruiser and lovely Grand Tourer with (never driven) better handling car for the twistys ...If you get the option go for it with the cup chassis ...
If not the Full fat still a great car and you can always get some eibachs on it

I've seen comments that the stearing can be poor on the std car and that the cup pack improves this.

Yes steering feel is poor on the std cant comment on the cup but you do get used to it eventually ....

I've had my full fat 225 without the cup pack for just over a month and to be honest I'm hugely impressed with the way it handles!!

Going from a 2003 Clio 172 to the Megane you'd think the Megane would feel bulky by comparison. But the Megane can grip I would say more than the 172 on most bends, especially long sweeping curves on the road.

I chose xenons and climate control over the cup chassis and have no regrets whatsoever!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Sorry to disagree but my 225 Fullfat is not a patch on my 182 at handling but i prefer the car as it is a nicer drive without a doubt ..

as being one of the lucky ones to have owned both the full fat and cup now, i would say the cup all the way :D

i've had a 225 and several 172's & 182's and have to say the megane without cup suspension isn't a patch on cliosports..... but have never driven a 225 with the cup pack so can't really comment except the handling of the 225 was ok dor day to day driving but once you want to corner quickly it's useless

i have drove a demo full fat before i got my cup and i can totally agree with andy the ride is much sharper, you do have to compromise on the feel but its well worth it, just dont drive over any 2 pence coins cause you feel them

Hahaha the steerings sh*t on all of them mate, we make the electronic power steering for the Megane at our site and trust me you dont wanna know. Its a different coupling and suspension setup which changes the feel of the handling on the Cup/Trophy's if I remember rightly.

No news yet then Andy, What have they tried so far?

andy bassett

they took the ecu of my old blue 225 as that is still there for sale and there comp will read my car with the other ecu in it but will not read the car with m euro 4 ecu on it, so atleast they are getting some where, they stink the ecu has spiked and ae trying to say it might be my stereo equip.

bollox was it, the stereo i fitted only connects to the standard cars iso connector so it cant be, and the amps in the boot are powered by the power cap that has got a built in resistor that stops any power going back to the battery to stop that kind of thing.

I'm sure they will try it on, as far as i know as long as you don't alter the OE wiring loom and any other accessories are wired back to source i.e. battery via the correct protective device you will be ok.

Fingers crossed mate.

Even if you wired the audio up th the clutch cable it wouldn't affect the ecu.

Bloody madness!!

I went for a 5Dr Full Fat 225 with Inferno paint work and no cup back. Although I still fancy the handiling the cup pack gives you.
