I rekon your dealer is correct, but they aren't the best people to speak to about tow bars... So logic would disctate that you can get one. Ironically, you can have a tow bar fitted to a Mini Cooper S which has a similar exhaust issue. It detaches and is virtually unnoticable when not fitted.
