I am sure someone on here will be able to help with the following.

I am thinking of buying a 225 (original model). Both the FF and Trophy have been under consideration.

Now the reason I had ruled out the Cup version was my assumption that the Cup was basically like the 172 Cup ie stripped down with some of the luxuries removed in the pursuit of slightly improved performance.

I have been reading some of the official press releases from Renault, but to be honest they seem to be pretty unclear in differentiaiting between each version (or maybe I'm just being thick).Mention is made of the removal of such things as the 6-CD changer, carpet mats and keyless entry and the car only being available in red.

The following is a description of a Megane 225 "Cup" currently on Autotrader :

Manual, 15,700 miles, Grey Steel Grey with FULL CUP PACK. 3x3 point rear seat belts, Isofix, ABS, Digital Climate control, Full Closure Alarm, 18x8" Alloy wheels, Cabasse 6 CD Audio, ABS, ESP, Switchable Traction Control, Cruise Control, Steering Wheel Controls, 1/2 Leather Sports interior, Comfort Pack, Electric Folding Mirrors, Auto Dim Rear View Mirror, Upgraded Interior Lights (LED), Upgraded Side, Main & Fog Lights. Fantastic car in Excellent Condition, Taxed Until May, Still Under Manufactureers Warranty and Just Had Two New Front Tyres. Very Very Quick Car With The CUP PACK Which Makes All the Difference. £12,150. O.V.N.O

This car is also in grey. Therefore am I right in thinking that this is more in line with the Cup/Chassis packs that Renault offered with the Clio 182 ie extras for the standard car as opposed to a standalone, stripped down model ? This would therefore take the car closer to the limited edition Trophy and you would therefore get the standard 225 with extras on top

Grateful for any advice

cups can come in any colour mate as far as im aware. yes it does have a slightly less generous list of stuff i.e. no climate control, no leather, no 6 cd disc changer etc, but it's still pretty good tbh! :)

the car that you mention mate is a ff i would imagine with the cup pack, i.e. the chassis, anthracite wheels, etc. and very much like andy bassett's motor off of here. i own a trophy at the moment, but it's going soon. :) hth

your right in thinking that the car above is slightly better of than a trophy and a cup cos it comes with more so yes your right, but the trophy was a limted edition but never had leather and the cup 225 in that shape only sold a few.

yeah thought it was mine for a mo but its not,

that is a cup pack fitted 225 not a cup.. so you get the extra bits like the remote central locking and leather that you would not get on a cup,

mine is also up for sale at the mo,

its the same colour , steel grey and had all the same items fitted, only diff with mine is it has got colour coded roof rails, colour coded engine cover, anthro coloured mirrors, rs- tuning remap ( 266bhp 270ftlb ) ITG panel filter, 4 new tyres (toyos t1rs ), also come with HID head lights if wanted and just had its first service done, also mine has not got the silly cabassa head unit, i just got the indash cd player and the 6 dics in dash multi changer,

here are the details
