: Been out in K-tec's 225!
Well all i can say is WOW!
I had never been bothered about remapping, but Fook me i'm getting it done!
It is far quicker than standard, knocked me back in the seat and was boosting to 14psi instantly
Tried to talk to Dave afterwards but i couldn't stop grinning, the lads in their must have though i was a right kid!
It felt like when i went from my 1.8 zafira to the 225!
Also the exhaust they have fitted is the 3" stainless one, sounds awsome aswell!
Phil :D
In all the excitement forgot to add i bought these babies!

ray225 23-02-2006, 20:21:13 nice one .it it realy that quick? :D
Too right mate, i felt like i could take on a ferrari!
with the standard car it seems to come on boost and accelerate at a steady pace
this beast just pulled and pulled like a train!
It was like the acceleration you get at 5Krpm+ o standard but from 2500rpm
Very impressed! still smiling :D
ray225 23-02-2006, 20:30:57 what bhp does it give you ? :D
andy bassett 23-02-2006, 20:31:54
Not sure around 270 as standard i think, they are going on the rollers soon
but they have the SS exhaust and intercooler so must be knocking on 280 at least!
It certainly felt like a lot more power and torque than standard!
andy bassett 23-02-2006, 20:34:50 stop stop stop i cant take it any more

Topper225 23-02-2006, 20:43:42 Phil is it the plug in chip that was on the car ...
Phil is it the plug in chip that was on the car ...
No mate it was a Remap, they have a boost gauge fitted so i could see it boosting to 14psi approx, but too scared to take my eyes off the road for too long!
no its still f  ked , its that slow it dont move any more :x :x :x
What they playing at? cant they just chuck a new ecu on it?
or are they just crap at fault finding?
andy bassett 23-02-2006, 20:48:55 they have fitted £1800 worth of new parts , they are waiting for a new ecu you turn up, 10-14 days they said, that was on monday
What they fitted?
sounds like they have been swopping bits at random in hope of fixing it!
andy bassett 23-02-2006, 20:51:17 you could not be more true
Hopefully you'll be back on the road soon then mate!
tell them to order the old ECU in the pre euroIV engine so you can remap it!
Diegza 23-02-2006, 21:22:10 Great! Paul, wjhat about the sad part of the story(money) how much does it costed you? Hey, the 3" exhaust you just fitted do you know how much HP's gain againts the 2.5"...I have the 2.5" and I want to change it for the 3"...
Thanks

It costs around £400 i think, but i'm sure Dave posted a while back saying £300 + VAT as an introductory offer.
I havent fitted the exhaust it was all on K-tecs car, I'm sure the larger diameter does allow it to breath easier but no figures yet.
Andy,
Found out today that the ECU comes directly from the factory in Dieppe. That would explain the delay
mike_d225 23-02-2006, 22:44:55 I'm sure Andy would of driven there and picked it up himself knowing it would take this long.
Jon Seal 23-02-2006, 22:45:58 the intercooler and zorst make a good difference, andys car felt quick when I was in it and there were 3 of us in it
andy bassett 24-02-2006, 11:48:13 it is slightly noticible in the difference in power, you can feel it pulling that litttle harder with the cooler on and the other bits just help it out abit i think,
iv said this from day one i dont think the zorst mods make any difference in power, maybe just majbe you might see 3-4 bhp gain but nothing to blow the roof of, the de-cat will only be the best way on a zorst mod to gain more bhp, a de-cat scooby will give up 30-40bhp extra thats a fact.
so you got to be looking at 20bhp on the megane.
BlackRat250 24-02-2006, 14:17:07 Are K-tech attending the FCS?
Diegza 24-02-2006, 14:31:13 Andy, sorry for not understand. What do you mean with De-cat or De- cat scobby? :?: :?:
mike_d225 24-02-2006, 16:17:36 De-cat is removal of the catalytic convertor, and Scooby is our word for Subaru Impreza
andy bassett 24-02-2006, 16:21:16 the catalitic converter that is on your exhaust system, the thing that makes your car stink and reduces the **** that comes out of the car,
well this also can hold back quite alot in bhp on most cars, ie wen removed from and subaru impreza it can free up an extra 30-40 bhp,
so if removed from the 225 this cuold be a quick way to gain anothe 20 bhp maybe more,
but in our country if it is removed it will fail a yearly road test that he have to do by law, but only after 3years from wen the car was new, other wise you just put the cat back on for this test and remove it again which i would think alot of people do.

jasdigido 24-02-2006, 16:41:14 Say that again andy
Hows the car nightmare progressing?
Diegza 24-02-2006, 16:44:37 :o :o :o Ok, Thanks for the explanation...
Has anyone tryied or know if it's possible to remove the catalitic converter
WHen I removed the original catback(2 1/4"), the guy that perform the job told me that because the location it was going to be a pain in the ass :!: :!: Also, a signal could come over to the panel because the sensor this thing holds...
Again thanks for the info,
andy bassett 24-02-2006, 16:46:37 Say that again andy

Again thanks for the info,
its being looked at as we speak, can be removed easy enough, as for the sensors there are a couple of ways to get around them to keep things all sweet, look in the tuning forum there was info on it in there.
meggerman 25-02-2006, 15:08:36 the scoob is a 2.0 T so is the megane. there wont be 20hp for a megane and 40hp for a scooby. to be more acurate if you fit a decat to a wrx 220hp(225ps) WRX you will see 240 so 20hp same goes for 222bhp megane 242 5-7 for induction.. hence results of 247 for exhaust and induction from both andy and BBPT.
just thought id clarify. however if you decat an STi you will see upto 40bhp due to the differences in engine specs and ECU.
edit* a full turbo back system and manifold properly designed will see 30-40 on the megane but for most it will be a cheap and cheerfull decat.
andy bassett 25-02-2006, 17:13:24 my appologies
it was a STi spec/info i was looking at and comparing to the megane.
sorry again for any miss led infomation i may have put across.
