Right im pretty much positive I can see an intercooler in the front of my car, didnt know the DCi had one, might be showing my lack of knowldege here on cars but oh well, the question is if I upgrade it, will I get any more power, or just better looks through the front bumper?

okay i know a 224 intercooler will fit it:

but still don't know if the performance will increase

hey that was me! wow that was yonks ago! lol. the 225 'cooler will fit iirc. im sure it has the same brackets etc as the 1.9dci. the only way to find out for sure is to take the front bumper off of a dci and offer a 225 cooler up to it or vice versa.

i never managed to get a bigger IC on my Dci, i was pretty much stretching how much i could get away with on warranty as it was. if i still had the car now though, it'd be something i'd still be looking into doing as the car would be coming out of warranty.

obviously the best way to go would be to fit an forge type 225 IC with a remap to boot.

Try to find out the part numbers for a dci IC and a 225 IC and compare.

cool so do u reckon it wud give more power and i thought i recofnised the name and from looking at photos, they appear to be the same size and shape the dci and 225 standard ones

if it was a straight swap standard 1.9 dci to standard 225 i'd say no. you'd only get a performance gain if you used a uprated 225 one. or even a RS 175Dci one, but i have no idea on the size of it so cant really comment.

dci IC:

225 IC:

225 has the uprate one in the pic as well, so looks like it should be a straight swap right?

they look the same to me. it wouldnt have made much sense for renault to use different IC mounting bosses between the 225 and dci. i think you should be ok. :)

could be worth a go but its a lot of money to go and do and not get any extra performance, is there any gain from fitting the bigger intercooler to the 225?

the 1.5 1.9 225 2.0lt and the new rsdci all use the same cooler

Thanks for that mr b. I had a good feeling they were but needed a second opinion. Looks like you'll be ok with a forge ic, james.

Bigger intercooler means cooler more dense air, always good for an engine
