I actually really like that i almost bought a 96 mark 1 Golf about 18 months ago which was a South African import but the guy pulled out of the sale.

Hopefully it will be good and hopefully alot better than the citigolf. I drove one in SA as a hire car a few years back and it was awful!

I'm loving that!! You get all the old skool retro looks but with a modern interior!!!

I remember reading about how the Mk1 Golfs were still being made in South Africa. Very cool.

saw a proper old skool Mk1 GTi yesterday.... other than some dodgy wheels it was mint... looked like it'd had a few quid spent on it.

quite like the idea of a iconic hatch being reborn with modern build quality and engines :)

Maybe they could do it with the Renault 5 lol, sod the twingo bring back the 5 turbo.
