Alright guys 'n gals, new user here!

I've a few questions, not many as i have seen most answered for me but anyway here goes.

1. Best price. Where? keep seeing bmnc cropping up, are they the cheapest? AND more importantly are they legit!!

2. I keep getting confused with all the different models floating about! Anyone care to briefly explain the differences?

3. Is the liquid yellow worth the extra money, seems alot for a coat of paint!

4. Insurance, are they expensive to insure?

Think that's about it really, anything else to consider when buying one?

Thanks all.

Welcome along Lee,

Right here goes:

1. Best price. Where? keep seeing bmnc cropping up, are they the cheapest? AND more importantly are they legit!!

BMNC are great no problems with them what so ever

2. I keep getting confused with all the different models floating about! Anyone care to briefly explain the differences?

Right you have a 225 cup - which doesn't have all the electronic bits and bobs like wireless hands free key card to open the doors etc, or climate control that kind of thing, but it has the lower suspension and the cup anthrocite alloys, also switchable esp.

The 225 LUX (full fat) is basically the luxury pack, all mod cons, electric everything like hands free key card, climate control, basically it really.
3. Is the liquid yellow worth the extra money, seems alot for a coat of paint!

Then you have the 225 lux with cup pack, so basically, all the luxuries of the lux, but with the additional cup alloys lower suspension and the switchable esp.

Then you have the R26, basically a cup with limited slip differential. and a claimed 230bhp. with a few tweaks here and there.

4. Insurance, are they expensive to insure?

Pretty good mate, i'm 23, 4 yrs no claims - comes in at £740

Think that's about it really, anything else to consider when buying one?

Deep pockets if you want to modd it! :D

Welcome to the site too mate! ;)

Cheers shinyautos.com for that.

Clears a few things up that. I was looking at the R26 but i quite like the sound of the 225 LUX (full fat) with cup pack - i like my luxuries!

I'm guessing that there isnt that much difference between the two really or maybe there is when you come to drive 'em.

I'll have to try a test drive one i suppose to make sure.

Thanks again.

Ok, i have been using the search button for the past hour or so and now i'm swaying to a FF + Cup Chassis + Recaros + Xenons 225!!

Reasons? well i think i like my luxuries that little too much and like a few have also said i dont think i'd use the R26 to it's full potential during everyday driving + the Mrs would be using it also and she likes leather ;)

Do bmnc do the 225 Cup Lux ff? i can see a 225 CUP/R26 and a 225 LUX - is that the one? or does it have to say like 225 Cup Lux FF??

Also is there a big waiting list for this model ala the R26?

Sorry if the questions seem a bit thick like lol!

Ta.

Thats ok mate anytime!

If you send them an email and ask for a full fat cup, he'll know what your on about.

I think you've made the right choice mate the lux/cup (full fat cup) is in my opinion the best of both worlds! Luxury with the handling and performance.

There isn't as far as i know a big waiting list, but probably something like 4-5 weeks.

Next job is to work out what colour your after!!

Here are some pics of my Full fat cup:

Just had a look at yours, very nice i must say and would you believe i'm looking at the exact same car to buy now! - my 182 is a Black/Gold which is a pain to keep clean but when it is clean...WOW! what a looker.

Do you have any interior pics?

I also have a PC to keep it clean with which should help.

*Edit* Forget that, just found your full post with pics during a search.

I've just got a reply from Adrian after dropping him an email, here it is.

"The full fat as been replaced by the lux, the lux is not available with the cup
pack now.

We can supply a Cup car?"

I'm guessing it's the same Adrian Shiny says speak to. Looks like i'm out of luck regards getting a full fat with cup pack which is what i think i want now -same as yours Shiny is what i quite fancy!

I am right in thinking the Cup comes without the extra luxuries im really after, ie leather/Climate etc etc

The r26 has recaros, climate control and keyless entry I think, but you will have to pay the £500 extra for the xenons. (unless you order this month on BMNC as they're doing a special)

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I can gather if you get an r26 and pay for the xenons and metallic paint as optional extras, what you'll basically have is a FF with cup suspension and slip diff.

Really? i not sure about that Gaz from what i've been reading on here - done lots of search button pressing!!

I'm led to believe there will be no full leather, no keyless entry and some other bits 'n' bobs, i may well be wrong though!

I'm sure Shiny could tell us, basically i'd like his car!

http://www.renaultsport.co.uk/roadcars/megane230f1/specification/

It definitely says keyless car with renault card as standard equipment. It has climate control and recaros listed as "additional equipment on R26 230 f1 team" which I think means it's a standard feature on this model. Then under options you can have xenons, metallic paint, liquid yellow id paint, steel spare wheel and the "decal delete".

I'm thinking R26 with Metallic paint and xenons is the one to go for. :D (or id paint instead of metallic if you're really pushing the boat out!)

Thanks for that, i missed seeing that on the Renault site

I did see this that someone posted on another site though,

"Only things it loses is full leather (i.e. rear) centre arm rest, heat reflective screen, tyre pressure monitors and hands free renault card"

I guess thats it then but i do like the rear seats in the Full Fat (Lux, whatever it's called!)

GazCB
06-05-2007, 15:32:29
I think the armrest is gone because of the Recaros. I'm a bit surprised about the windscreen being different, but if it is, no real loss eh? After having another look I think you're right about the card. "Keyless car with renault card" purely means you stick the card in and push a start button as the lux spec also lists "hands free renault card".

Without seeing it in the flesh and just looking at the pics, I think the Recaros look nicer than the leather seats anyway (though I would miss having an armrest, I do love them). Also with the tyre pressure monitor, no real loss again IMO.

So I'm definitely thinking it'd be the one for me!

Red Brembo Brake Calipers
Drilled front and rear brake discs
Uprated front and rear spring rates (25% front and 77% rear)
Re-tuned front / rear damper settings
Increased brake master cylinder diameter £500
• Recaro Seats (full leather) £850
• Xenon Headlamps £500

• Heated Front Seats £300
• Panoramic electric glass sunroof * £600

The Cup is slightly lower spec'd than the Lux, but is not bad, Still Has
Air Con, CD, Auto Lights and Wipers, The only things you wont get are Climate, Leather and The arm Rest. Its each to there own. Though the cup is slightly faster to 62 (Same time as the R26)

Gareth
08-05-2007, 17:06:12
the car doesn't lose the armrest because of the Recaros, I have both in mine.

Lee182 you can have the car you wanted. As pointed out above cup chassis is still an option on 225 lux. Make sure you look carefully at the renaultsport web site so you know what is avialable with what.

Good luck deciding which way to go, and welcome to the club!

Lee, i'd say the fullfat cup is still available. email ade back and say you want a car like mine, Shiny or adam and he'll know what your on about,

I'm sure the R26 hasn't got keyless entry though...

Gareth
08-05-2007, 20:39:32
I'd say you can still order a Lux with Cup Chassis as the others have said, its what I'd go for (with Recaros), I'm pretty sure the R26 does have keyless entry, just not keyless start.

denty225

"Keyless car with renault card" as on cup or R26 means you get use the plipper to unlock and start the car. Lux has "hands free renalut card" which means you can keep the plipper in your pocket while you open, start and lock the car.

Hi guys,

I've been in contact with Adrian at BMNC via email again and he's told me this,

"I tried to order a LUX with Cup option on friday, Renault have stopped this option on the LUX car"

So it seems, if i want the Lux with cup options i'd have to order it elsewhere by the sounds of that, not sure why BMNC can't get 'em with the Cup options though

I have looked at the Renault website and the Lux is definitely available on there with the Cup option.

Strange.

The renault website isn't always up to date, get a dealer to try and create an order to see if they have stopped this option. Steve from wests may be able to help on this.

Could it be they are phasing the cup pack out to replace with a new R26 pack?

sounds to me like a ploy to get people to buy the R26.

I'd like to know this too. As from looking at pictures the centre console is different. The R26 looks like the F1 console, very rounded whereas the FF looks all square.
