got my new insurance quote through the other day with £477 + all the other silly bits and i comes to £544 for me and my ali,

so i go online last night a re do the quote for my self and get it down to £434 inc all the silly bits, protected NCB, BDC, :D

so phoned them today and had words with them and without saying any thing to me they said "ok mr b would you like to pay for it now " i was like ok,job done,
and thas even putting it down as a renaultsport renault megane 225 cup and not just a renaultsport megane 225, cos if its got the cup pack on it you have to go for the cup 225 and not just the 225.

so had a right result £434 all in :D

Did you read the Car Mag prank call of the month (march I think) where they ring an insurance company to insure a Bugatti Veyron?

It went something like this...

Insurance: Whats the make Sir?
Caller: Bugatti
Insurance: ...And what is the model?
Caller: Veyron
Insurance: Im sorry Sir.. Im afraid I cant find it on the Database
Caller: Are you sure you cant find it?
Insurance: No sir. Is it custome made?
Caller: Definitely not. Its sold in the UK as we speak
Insurance: ... ok...ok... and what did you say the price was?
Caller: 750,000 Pounds.
Insurance: Im sorry.. Could you repeat please?

Insurance: And number of cylinders?

we always get fleeced with insurance, apparently round here (WF6 wakefield) its one of the worst areas for car crime worse than the dodgist parts of Leeds and Sheffield. I think the only area we could find worse than out for car crime was in oldham manchester. Ours last year was a grand thats 26 with 3 years NCB

put her on it, mine went down £100 with my ali on it, honest to god, mine is also kept in a garage over night and i use a van for work so that might help me out, also mine is a 10 month scheme to get my NCB quicker.

hay if im wrong ill admit it and pay up, im just trying to help others out and not get robbed as most of us do in life,

like saint said it might be cos of the area he lives in i dont know,

but mine is a 10month scheme, i do it so i get my NCB after 10 months and my car is also kept in a garage and i use a van evrey day for work.

i dont see the logic in it , £400 more, hes got 4 yrs NCB more than me and is only 1yr younger, christ i only paid £550 a year ago.
this is why i hate paying f  king insurance, its all a big con :!:

I'm paying £660 at the moment on a 10 mth scheme with Admiral. Thats living in a London postcode aswell (NW4)

I'm 25, Got 4 yrs no claims and no points. Put my 55 Year old mother down on the policy aswell which saved me some cash

Always call the insurance company for a quote as opposed to an online quote.

You will not believe this I'm paying £288 yes £288 for 2006 225
protected 9 years ncb. This includes my wife who has a speeding & a claim.
I'm 'wait for it' 40 & only be doing 5K miles ayear.
Its with the Post Office (who give you £50 back) the under writers are Norwich Union.

yikes!!!

I'm nearly 42, with 1 minor claim made by my wife and with me on 6 points, put on April 03, so the 3 years is up shortly (I know that it stays on the record for insurers for 5 years).

Will try post office!!! May even try them for my wife's car insurance which is due on 10th April.

My quote from Post Office was £428, mind you that was based on 10k miles. I might also need to add in business use - so that will hike the premium up, but business use is very seldom. Like to get some mileage in though as I get 40p per mile, so that's quite good.

Axa have so far been the best for the Meg, coming in at £402, and have been the best on my wifes Nissan X-Trail, so it may be that a call to them is on the cards to see what deal they can do with 2 cars insured through them.

Just renewed mine with direct line. £646 fully comp with protective NCB, legal cover and hire car. I have 5 years no claims and i'm 32 living in nottingham. I also drive around 20000 miles a year and the car's kept on the drive.

My girlfriends 25 and she put the quote up by £100, looks like i'll have to drive myself back from the pub

tried the RAC and they came back with £890. Also tried confused.com and the moneysupermarket website. Nobody came close to Direct Line.

Yes, but I'm approaching 42!! So why is my premium higher - probably 6 points and a £400 fine tells them that I was travelling a little bit too quickly one day!!!

Per

I have had a quote from Adrian Flux in Norwich at £286. Seems that insurance is as much of a lottery as it ever was. OK my licence isn't clean, but it's just an SP30 (with on line quotes they expect you to list the points and the fine, so that has a bearing).

Odd thing is, I sought a quote using Autotraders quote system. Got a quote of £402 via Axa. Quoted also for my wife's Nissan X-Trail, and got a figure of £292. Called a broker as although this was an Axa quote, it was stated to have come from a local broker. So when I called a local broker, their system came up with a quote of £395. Asked Adrian Flux to quote and they came back at nearly £500 for the x-trail.

Feels like they use a bloody random number generator and then add a bit!!!

Insurance is legalised theft, but you have no choice so I will stick with teh best I have got so far.

Just got my renewal from adreia flux,, UP £60! RAC wanted £900+, Privelege came back at £400. I dumped them a couple of years ago cos my renewal went up. You gotta find a couple of cheap places and alternate between them to get the new business discounts they give.

ours is up in may so we've had a quick look round. Confused came up with 500 quid which is HALF what we are paying now! I think its to do with our lass been 25 this time round. According to that insurance risk list we're quite a high risk area here too so I'm pleased with that as it'll be the lowest price I've ever paid for insurance lol
